I would highly recommend this to anyone who has a PC capable of VR

I'm running a VR ready PC, and I still get a noticeable amount of lag

With the price cut, and considering you have the pc capable of running vr (oh and by the way to all you mac users, well vr can't run on mac, period

It is also telling that no extended warranty is available for these making this a risky purchase.

I can't recommend the Rift enough, it's really an incredible experience playing in VR.

I also want to say that I HATED the Touch controllers when I saw them at PAX

The tracking and motion controllers are dead on with no input lag at all

My one complaint is the controllers which will most likely be upgraded in the future

The controllers are disgusting with fingerprints and grime on them

Cons: controllers take just a standard AA battery i would probably invest in rechargeable AA's

The VR really is an experience and exceeded my expectations

The Rift is a great entry level VR that I would recommend in a heartbeat

Something to keep in mind with the set up, watch what kind of lights you use, small lights like Christmas lights will mess with the sensors and you will have tracking issues

When a customer spends about $400.00 for a product that NEVER worked it should not be necessary to BEG for assistance... especially a defective cable!

Also be wary that wherever you are using this, the cable will be tethered to a device on your head and your, rather expensive if it's capable of running this device, PC.

Along with that, the Vive's cables are much cleaner than the rift's, as the vive uses only power to get proper tracking, while each oculus camera plugs into your computer via USB

Although Oculus recommends a 7ft by 5ft area, you can get away with a little less

The unit worked fine at the beginning but later the software kept complaining about losing the HDMI connection

Sometimes updates take days on my fast internet connection, where the update gets stuck on 11 of 11 at 58% for hours.

I found after a year of use, the the connection from the headset to the electronics in the strap failed

I suspect a bad wiring connection so I am returning my set for a replacement

I play Elite Dangerous, and in VR mode it is impossible to explain the feeling of reality, my body actually believes it is moving and is in a 360 deg. environment

AND then there is Elite Dangerous, the go-to VR game, it seems.

His favorite thing to do is to play elite dangerous with it.

Things to try: Robo-recall, Google Earth VR, Projects Cars, Elite Dangerous

Also, if you have SSD and your main drive is dynamic, enjoy setting it up an an alternative drive (has to be installed on a basic drive) because the setup program is too stupidly-designed to recognize the difference between disc drives (It'll give you a "you don't have enough space" error and shut down).I finally got piece of garbage working and it worked great for a few months.

Took 3+ hours to install initially because it is poorly designed and is picky about everything (from hard drive to USB drives)

I have done updates that have caused my handsets to buzz uncontrollably, which I fix by restoring an older hard drive image.

It's a given about hard drive space for virtual memories sake

I spend more time updating software and restoring previous hard drive images than playing the Rift.
