Ooma Telo Free Home Phone Service. Works with Amazon Echo and Smart Devices
The smartest home phone is the one that gives you exactly what you want with the greatest savings. That's Ooma Telo. Connect Ooma Telo to your high-speed Internet and regular home phone and get crystal-clear nationwide calling for free. You pay only ...
The Ooma allows me to customize my system to reject SPAM callers based on a dynamic database of known spammers and to customize how the rejection occurs: a message, never answering, or announcing that the number is disconnected.
It is still a good system, but certainly inferior to the original design.
I previously had Comcast voip phone and this system is just as good except
The device may worked perfectly well with other Internet providers who haven't adopted AT&T's inefficient system.
This is a great voip phone system with allot of extras.
I dumped Verizon/Frontier as I got tired of paying $65 a month for crappy service, dsl internet that was sporadic at best, and nonstop
I ultimately returned this as I could not get it to work with my alarm system, but outside of that the device functioned as advertised and was never recommended for alarm use.
Works as advertised but just a tad deceptive on how they bill.
I was also frustrated with their deceptive marketing, advertising "keep your number" all over their website, when that is not necessarily true (and they were not able to port my number.)I decided to buy the Ooma even though it was much more expensive, but I'm happy with my purchase
Ooma works as advertised and it was the perfect solution since I don't use my home phone much but didn't want to get rid of it
Calls are clear; as clear as on our landline or actually better most of the time
So the morons are calling my Ooma number that doesnt work
I dumped Verizon/Frontier as I got tired of paying $65 a month for crappy service, dsl internet that was sporadic at best, and nonstop
But once I've vetted individuals or if the contacts are business related, those folks will get my Ooma number instead
And if a voicemail is left on the Ooma number, it is forwarded as a recording to email (and then forwarded to my wife's email), so we both will receive it anywhere
Google Voice has its place in your toobelt, it's great for filtering out unwanted callers for example (let's say you are handing out your number to a colleague but want to keep your personal number private).
n’t get calls from and that ended my annoying callers cheaply

Add # after the phone number will make it work as it should, but so counter intuitive
We pay $14.51 per month for the extra luxury of having 2 phone numbers, and being able to easily block unwanted callers.
The only difference I can tell between Ooma Telo and a hard wired land line is the bill at the end of the month.
At one point (in an apartment for 1 year), I was completely hard wired and never had any issues with packet loss.
Then, connect the Telo to any jack in the house, and if your inside wiring is good, all the phones in your house will act -just- as they did before--with maybe better quality sound.
We have it hard wired to our router and it serves a Panasonic wireless set of five handsets throughout the house.
Be careful not to stress the wires at the ethernet jack by puling on the ethernet cable.
Connected correctly to my wireless modem via Ethernet, line from Ooma device to phone secure as well as power to Ooma.
Do recommend a battery/UPS backup in case you lose power.
Our home network consists of a wired router (no wireless), a separate 24 port managed switch with PoE, and 3separate wireless access points, several intelligent power distribution units (basically intelligent power strips)
Adding too many of the vintage "real bell" ringing phones dwindles the power available to properly function..having 8,9, or so would cause all the phones to not ring.
The only problem with this type of communication is if the power goes out and your internet does not work, this will not work.
$119.00 in advance for 1 year service and free porting..then about $12.00 per month there after
But somehow, my home number was ported in only three days!
We wanted to keep our number so we took advantage of the free porting (a $40 value) and paid for the premier plan ($9.99/month) one full year in advance ($119.88).
I had my number ported over, and that was without incident.
I went ahead and ordered the Premium service to get the caller ID and free number port, but that is still cheaper per month than what we were paying.
Initially, you register for a new temporary number and once the transfer is completed, you can then remove the temp number
Then they had to call customer service to remove the temporary number from their account, otherwise the temp number shows up on caller ID when you make a call
This is simply not true, as the temp number was not released and the ported number was not made primary
Even if you transfer the existing phone number, people you are calling will have your temp number showing up on their caller ids
Ooma kept me informed by email and phone message (to the box and temp number)
