This item smells like hot plastic

After boiling water only the third time in 3 days a very strong burning plastic smell noticed.

If you break the plastic off and jam it in the on position, the kettle still works,

(Hope the plastic is BPA free)

When I first used it there was a fairly strong plastic smell
