The added time this product takes to boil water is very annoying as one is trying to make one's morning coffee or tea before rushing off to work in the morning

I'm not 100% sure about this, but you might try Wright's silver polish, which is itself a terrific product

We have taken care not to use any harsh soaps or abrasive products.

I contacted OXO Customer Support to ask about the internal coating and they deflected, simply saying the product is stainless steal and tried to associate the peeling to mineral buildup or overheating, both of which produce much different results on steel.
