OXO Brew Classic Tea Kettle - Brushed Stainless Steel

    • I have used "economy" stainless steel and porcelain tea kettles for years, and spent several hours browsing online reviews to make a decision on my next one.
    • Not really stainless steel.
    • Matches my stainless steel appliances nicely.
    • The product description is misleading, as I was led to believe only 100% food grade stainless steel touched the water.
    • Why is stainless steel coated
    • Obviously since it all stainless steel it will be hot but the handle and whistle lever have a plastic grip so you don't get burned.
    • Interior is not stainless steel.
    • I've had 100% 18/10 stainless steel kettles in the past, and both the exterior and interior have always had that polished (shiny or brushed) finish.
    • Their stainless steel kettle beyond met my expectation.
    • I got this because it was stainless steel.
    • The inside coating of the kettle started to come off in the water of the other two, and since this is stainless steel I thought that would remedy the situation
    • Also, the pot has no core or base other than the stainless steel, not the best for heating or durability
    • It's made & molded from one piece of stainless steel
    • The fact that the metal started rusting so quickly, and that it is made in China, leads me to wonder if this is really 100% stainless steel
    • This is a PSEUDO 'all stainless steel' product
    • Very well-constructed of comparatively thick stainless steel, body being all one piece
    • The only flaw noted regarding a possible sharp steel edge on the cap to the spout hasn't materialized as a problem for us
    • , the whistle works, the handle folds to the side so you can open and fill easily, stainless steel, nice shape, altogether a wonderful tea kettle!
    • So I do like this teakettle, it has the wide mouth, I can rotate the handle out of the way, it whistles, it's stainless steel, and it pours well.
    • The kettle is beautiful, blends well with my stainless steel appliances.
    • Decided to compromise with 18/8 stainless steel after extensive research on teapot reviews.
    • It dents easily; and the stainless steel, which the Chinese seems to have great difficulty producing well, is thin and shows gaps in plating.
    • I was happy when I received it and thought that I finally found something I wanted, but when I opened the lid and looked inside of the kettle, I was surprised to see that it doesn't look like stainless steel but some sort of coating
    • Looking for a traditional looking stainless steel teapot.
    • Whistle is loud, nice stainless steel f or kitchen, looks expensive.
    • It is a nice kettle, all one piece stainless steel.
    • For sure, it's low quality product kettle shaped form wrapped in the thinnest pressed stainless steel
    • interior of the kettle is not stainless steel
    • It is hard to tell if the interior surface is some unusual or incompletely milled finish of stainlesssteel (which I have never before seen in any product) or if the interior surface is some othernon-stainless-steel material...but the manufacturer should clarify what this interior surface is,to help avoid the churn of ordering and returning incompletely described goods.
    • Nice stainless steel finish.
    • It was everything I was looking for - big capacity, stainless steel, good looking, & it whistles
    • I chose stainless steel over enamel coated metal
    • It is stainless steel
    • OKO recommends medium heat under this kettle, rather than high - the kettle brings water to a boil in quick time without the extra stress to the stainless steel of high heat underneath, and I feel the recommendation is well worth noting.
    • Love the style and great stainless steel
    • Mostly disappointed that stainless steel is so thin, especially on the bottom.
    • Would really prefer an old fashioned high quality stainless steel 18/10 one, but can't seem to find one that suits me quality wise.
    • It's made of heavy duty stainless steel, has a comfortable handle and a nice whistle
    • It's well made, appears to be brushed stainless steel, easy to keep up.
    • Purchased two months ago, it has been washed every day and we've used steel cleaning products, but there are rust stains all over it
    • The burnished stainless steel exterior doesn't show water spots as easily as polished stainless steel.
    • When I got it , it was made nice, Stainless steel, firm, it doesn't leak
    • But it is the thinnest stainless steel!
    • The only reason I gave it 4 and not 5 stars is that it is 18/8 stainless steel and not 18/10 and the silicon pads do get a little hot.
    • the way, the person who complained about rust - the steel is 'stainless' steel, which was a term developed to identify steel that 'stained less' and was resistant to corrosion.
    • The OXO kettle has a classic yet elegant design, made of easy to clean and durable stainless steel, and has features like a handle that folds to the side to easily fill in the sink and handles and whistle stop that are coated in a heat resistant rubber/silicone product
    • Wish the stainless steel were a heftier gage!
    • The product description really should mention that the interior is not brushed stainless steel
    • I would like to have a polished stainless steel, and OXO brand has a polished one but not of the same design and about $50.00 more
    • I specifically wanted a seamless bottom and a full stainless steel construction (at least where the water contacts.
    • My dislike is that the exterior turned brown from the heat of the flame...and I can't return the stainless steel to its previous 'clean' look
    • But tell me - why would a stainless steel tea kettle start rusting on the inside after only a year of use
    • I was disappointed in the weight of the stainless steel.
    • Love that it is stainless steel, that the lid is easily accessed and removed, that there is no easily breakable release to press on to open the spout from the handle!
    • Description says it's made of stainless steel...it's made of tin, so it won't work on induction and gas will eventually melt it.
    • Any steel will corrode under the right circumstances.
    • Since I really wanted to keep the kettle, I didn't dig out more one star reviews and trusted that the inside is stainless steel but not the brushed or mirror one
    • I have not had any stainless steel pot or pan rust, ever
    • Quite heavy stainless steel
    • I like the stainless steel (and the interior stainless steel does not appear to coated with anything as some reviewers stated)
    • I have a couple of KitchenAid appliances that I love (Pro stand mixer, food processor), but the enameled kettle that the OXO replaced [KitchenAid KTEN20SBOB 2.0-Quart Kettle with Full Stainless Steel Handle and Trim Band - Onyx Black] was a huge disappointment
    • Beautiful stainless steel is very easy to keep clean even though we keep it on the stove top where it is regularly spattered.
    • Outside has that high quality 18/10 brushed stainless steel finish.
    • But after a closer look, it's not the top of the line quality that i was expecting from OXO (it's made in China so the stainless steel is questionable)
    • BTW Stainless Steel is not supposed to rust.
    • BTW Stainless Steel is not supposed to rust.
    • But after a closer look, it's not the top of the line quality that i was expecting from OXO (it's made in China so the stainless steel is questionable)
    • However there were some comments about their reviews that the inside is stainless steel so there is nothing to be worried about
    • It's a lovely brushed stainless steel with the Oxo easy grip handle
    • A stainless steel kettle with NO SEAM at the bottom for mineral deposits to accumulate
    • After several days of searching through amazon and some other websites, I found this tea kettle so appealing in style and some nice features like brushed stainless steel and folding handle and a good size
    • It seemed very light weight, as if it were not made of quality stainless steel.
    • looks so nice I keep it on my stovetop - matches the stainless steel/black stove, works well, too
    • It is light weight, making optimum use of the strength of its stainless steel body and spout
    • spout shape pours hot water without drips or spills , brushed stainless steel always looks clean and best of all the whistle can be heard in the other rooms with the television playing
    • This great quality, sturdy, stainless steel tea kettle is practically designed and great looking
    • If looks very good on my stove top against stainless steel tiled wall.
    • and it is stainless steel,
    • I have not had any stainless steel pot or pan rust, ever
    • Stainless steel throughout makes it a good looking product and easy to clean.
    • What kind of stainless steel rusts in two weeks
    • It is all stainless steel as advertised, not just the bottom of it
    • I will mention the one thing I consider less-than-perfect in this kettle: the stainless steel edges of the lift-tab are exposed, and the lower edge of the cap itself - which may be contacted when popping the cap back down (not when lifting it) and the edges of the hinge underneath feels rather sharp - not sharp enough to cut, but sharp enough to be uncomfortable to the touch
    • The brushed stainless looks great with stainless steel appliances and for the price it can't be beat!
    • Stainless steel takes work to keep clean
    • but this is an e extremely poor design for a kettle.
    • but this is an e extremely poor design for a kettle.
    • But, personally, i still prefer my electric kettle:) See my review on Salton kettle Salton GK1465 Cordless Electric Glass Kettle, 1.7 L, Clear
