I loved the design/look and the one-handed pouring, but the "grip" handle which OXO is known for disintegrated and the cover of the spout melted from the heat of the gas stovetop

I recently replaced my oxo good grips uplift tea kettle.

Very versatile, great design and works as a kettle should.

In retrospect, the self opening handle seems like a questionable design decision.

but it sure would be nice if such a great design held up as well as it looked

It’s a cool feature, but I’m still concerned somebody might forget that lifting the pot causes it to open and it might not be expected or remembered.

The flick-handle is a wonderful feature and makes the kettle.

The final great feature about this kettle is the one that gives it its "uplift" name: the handle.

For whatever reason though, I never heard a whistle and didn't realize it was boiling until I smelled the overheating plastic.

Recently the plastic around the whistle on the kettle melted and the whistle fell off.

The hard plastic flip part that the hot water goes thru seems to be melting also.
