OXO On Barista Brain 9 Cup Coffee Maker (8710100)

    • A good thermal caraffe can keep coffee tasting fresh-brewed for four hours or more
    • It does seem to make the brew the perfect strength every time I've used it, which is impressive
    • Impossible to get a strong brew
    • No spoiled brew.
    • Even a couple hours after brewing the coffee, it stays hot from the carafe
    • Waking up to well-brewed coffee is a luxury, and, until I bought this, an impossibility
    • Like I said, the first few brews were amazing
    • My only really big disappointment is the temperature of fresh brewed coffee.
    • It does make a very consistent brew, but there have been issues
    • Keep excess heat and air from fresh-brewed coffee and it can taste good for hours.
    • Briefly microwaving a well brewed cup of coffee is also much better than coffee kept hot in an open glass carafe on a hot plate
    • I love the brew that is produced by this machine and am very happy with the flavor achieved
    • So what this leads me to believe is they just wanted me to go away and they've got their cheap little brew baskets laying around so they threw one in a package and shipped it off to shut me up
    • And it looks really neat while brewing and so quiet that you don't even know it's making coffee
    • you go into a fancy coffee brewing house, and demand that you get an extra swallow of coffee while you wait for your order, because you just can't wait an extra 2
    • Favorite features:-The easy to set timer that lets you wake up to the sound and smell of coffee brewing-The internal mixer somehow really does prevent the coffee from separating
    • From time to time it starts to make clicking noises while brewing
    • While the rage today is all about using a pre-measured, pre-contained coffee brewing method (like K cups), to me, nothing can take the place of a great-tasting, fresh brewed, classic pot of coffee
    • Only made coffee from it a hand full of times it was a good brew each time
    • The minute I started the brewing (again, very easy to do, just picking from two amount choices and pushing a button), I knew my old-fashioned coffee brewing days were over.
    • I have a feeling any of the SCAA-certified makers will produce equally delicious brew, I can say for certain that the OXO maker is just a handful among the best
    • The ball mechanism on the bottom of the brew basket it drippy, so you have to wipe it up every time you use the carafe.
    • Not even a beep to indicate the brew is ready
    • Beautiful design, quiet brewing, and the thermal carafe holds in heat for much longer than I thought it could
    • Makes as good, if not better, coffee than my Bonavita did, it looks hella cool while just sitting there and while brewing, it keeps the coffee hot for a long time, and there's an automatic start feature!
    • An amazing coffee maker that's simple to use, with very consistent brewing results
    • If brewing a full carafe ("9 cups" which fills three of my normal coffee mugs), then the carafe will keep coffee hot for at least three hours without any pre-warming of the carafe
    • It is very quiet while brewing which is great because I am always the first person up in our house.
    • Great coffee, quiet brewing, simple interface
    • The thermal carafe means the coffee isn't sitting on a hot plate getting scorched, and keeps your brew hot for several hours (I usually see ~5, but you could pre-heat the carafe to extend this). It's also the only model with SCAA Gold Cup certification with some of the convenience features like a CLOCK and a TIMER to schedule a brew ahead of time
    • Ah, science is a harsh mistress!I tasted a marked difference between the two brews, and I favored the brew from the Oxo-Kalita chimera at both the 165 F serving temperature and the non-scalding 130 F temperature I prefer when I'm not paying attention
    • This coffee maker was an excellent brewing machine
    • Like the OXO, it also has a brew-through stopper
    • SCAA certified, ensures proper brewing temperature throughout the process
    • As an owner of an Aeropress and a Toddy cold brew system I was looking for something to make a few hot cups at a time
    • But no...a perfect brew.
    • This OXO is fast brewing, trendy, and really does make the perfect cup of joe
    • Pros: Design, 9 cup, thermal carafe, good hot coffee, flexible brewing, auto on timer, quietCons: Price, no Gold filter included, no removable water tank
    • I have had the coffee maker for a couple weeks and I look forward every morning to enjoying the enhanced taste that comes from the brewing process and the ease of use.
    • This is probably going to become the most annoying "feature" in moving from the Capresso that has a single integrated lid that could be left open to air both the water tank and brew basket
    • is one of the few automatic coffee makers that is certified to have a consistent brewing temperature throughout the brewing cycle
    • The timer that runs after the brew is really cool because I've noticed that I don't pour my second cup until almost exactly an hour later
    • Really good temperature and solid brew.
    • I'm not sure how a coffee maker gets certified by the experts when it doesn't hit ideal brew temperature, but somehow this one got the credentials
    • But it's pretty fast, I was expecting from the reviews that it was a really slow brewing
    • Sleek look and love the open water brewing
    • I love love love coffee and am always trying to find a way to get the best brew at home
    • The coffee side leaks thru after brewing diluting the coffee and pot lid leaks everywhere when disengaged from the pot itself.
    • The brewing is rapid, at least for the small amounts of coffee I have been brewing
    • During brewing, or after brewing when the brew basket lid is opened, a little hot water leaks out of the water bridge, and the large open passage between the basket and tank is meant to drain this bit of water back into the tank instead of letting it go into the pot.
    • It shows cute little water drops on the LED as it brews, and a hot cup once it's done
    • After the coffee has brewed and sat on the heat plate for a while, it would be HOT, so if heat is your main concern, go with this style because none of the high end brewers use a glass pot/hot plate except technivorm (too $$$!) and bonavita
    • Thermal carafe works well - to retain heat in the coffee one should temper the pot with boiling water prior to brewing.
    • When brewing, the machine is extremely quiet and the coffee comes out perfectly hot
    • Some if it's enhanced features include heating and maintaining proper water temperature for a perfect brew, a "rain spout" styled water disperser which ensures all of your coffee grounds are being brewed thoroughly and equally, the ability to brew just a single, 10 oz. cup of coffee, all the way up to a full pot of 9 cups of coffee, and, a thermal carafe which does not require added heat to keep the coffee warm and drinkable for at least a couple of hours after brewing
    • It's fast brewing and hot!
    • The ability to program the Oxo to start automatically in the morning seems like overkill given how quickly both machines brew.
    • I noticed that the brew is very smooth and doesn't take much coffee which is a great thing
    • Perfect coffee brewing system.
    • Pre-programmable brewing - easy to set up the night before.2
    • So happy I did, its so nice waking up to a great brewed pot of coffee even with the coffee being ground the night before
    • The brewed coffee is transferred to the carafe so securely that my kitchen no longer gets the fresh brewed coffee smell that I love.
    • It brews a great cup of coffee, is easy to use, easy to clean up, and fairly quiet when brewing.
    • It brews a great cup of coffee, is easy to use, easy to clean up, and fairly quiet when brewing.
    • Checked my pocket watch (I actually prefer to call it a timepiece), and finally sat down with a frown on my face to enjoy, but not too much--enjoyment is for those rookies at Starbucks--my crafted "pour over" despite the existential anguish brewing behind it all
    • Others have mentioned it is not boiling hot - it is not supposed to be, optimal brewing temperature being 195-205 F. One review mentioned 140 F, that is clearly a defective unit
    • Its handmade coffee that is designed to allow the coffee beans to fully bloom and give you a full rich smooth brew of coffee, and cut out the bitterness of traditionally made coffee
    • This brews amazing cups of joe, it brings out the best of a bean
    • The inside of the carafe stains badly and is impossible to clean, and after brewing the machine drops non-stop after you remove the carafe to pour your coffee
    • While not quite up to the Hario in taste, the OXO produces an amazingly smooth, round brew with none of the hassle
    • It is important for this machine as a medium grind is recommended and it does produce a more consistent brew.
    • The ability to program the Oxo to start automatically in the morning seems like overkill given how quickly both machines brew.
    • It does leak if you try to pull the carafe out before the pot is finished brewing.
