OXO On Barista Brain 9 Cup Coffee Maker (8710100)

    • The coffee maker still performed great, and the carafe still kept the coffee hot, unlike a $300 Technivorm, but the complex electronics went haywire all of a sudden

    • I love the insulated carafe
    • The carafe is excellent.
    • In case anyone is wondering, the carafe plate is NOT heated...but the carafe is very well insulated.- Very cool carafe design: there is a rubber "hose" that mixes the coffee as its brewed and poured so that there's no "really strong first cup" scenario
    • However, for better than $300 for a coffee maker, I would assume that they could figure out how to make a stainless steel vacuum carafe that would keep coffee hot for more than 10 minutes
    • (For testing purposes, I brewed a few cups without the coffee at 12 p.m. and the carafe kept it so hot it had steam coming off of it at 7

    • Brews fast, and the carafe keeps the coffee warm for hours.
    • The Carafe has been an issue off and on, whereas the OXO won't allow the coffee maker to brew because it doesn't recognize the carafe is on
    • I didn't think this would be a big deal at first because the carafe is a nice metal carafe with double walls like the sweet water bottles that you can buy these days that keep liquid really hot and cold for awhile
    • It makes really tasty coffee; the thermal carafe pours well and keeps the coffee nice and hot; and the single button control is a very nice touch, once you figure out the simple logic behind it
    • The carafe could be better
    • The carafe keeps my coffee warm for hours, so when my kids finally
    • it's a metal carafe, so you can't glance and see how much is left; it's not heated, so the carafe eventually cools as it sits there.

    • Think about it, you have a metal carafe at 68 degrees and if you put only 2-6 cups of coffee in there, it's going to be slightly cooler than if you warm the carafe first or unless you made a full 9 cups
    • Thermal carafe works well - to retain heat in the coffee one should temper the pot with boiling water prior to brewing.
    • The carafe keeps the coffee hot for at least three hours
    • so if you forget about the last of a pot it won't fossilize on you, but the thermal carafe keeps coffee warm enough for long enough (4 cups dropped from 166F to 141F in 2 hours) (

    • I recommend using baby bottle pipe cleaners to clean carafe lid and rubber mixer
    • Love the carafe.
    • The thermal carafe does not keep the coffee hot for very long, in fact, it seems to be getting worse with age( not quite a year old)
    • the carafe keeps it hot for awhile and then pleasantly warm for hours.
    • My carafe keeps it really warm.
    • the carafe keeps it hot for awhile and then pleasantly warm for hours.
    • The carafe is too small to clean without a long handled brush and the water does not drain completely due to the design of the pour spout
    • I love that the carafe keeps the coffee hot so much longer, with my old Mr. Coffee I used to have to turn it back on after awhile if you wanted a pot to stay warm all morning, this one is still warm a couple hours later which is great in a house with roommates that get up at various times of morning

    • While the machine is big, it looks great in my coffee nook and the stainless steel carafe is perfect for sitting on the table when entertaining

    • The carafe keeps the coffee plenty warm.
    • THIS OXO!)It would be great if OXO would provide a different carafe or part to correct the dribble problem.
    • So it's a great performing carafe
    • safe! For us, the carafe is the absolute, #1 best part of this coffee maker
    • It is difficult to really get the inside of the carafe cleaned
    • So when you open the top of the coffee ground section, water always drips out of the spray area, and when you take the carafe out to clean it, water/coffee always drips out onto the heating platform below, and when you unscrew the top of the carafe, water and coffee drips on your counter
    • If you like your coffee really hot but can still drink with sips, preheat the carafe with hot tap water.
    • Carafe is cool to the touch.

    • especially if you pre-warm the thermal carafe with hot water)- stylish with backlit LED indicators- fun to watch the percolator function during the brewing processCons:- clock keeps loosing track of time and flashes 3:09PM every morning- every time you lift the brewing lid after making coffee, dirty water from brewing splash-back pours back into the fresh water reservoir - Oxo customer service's response
    • Three, the easy pour carafe is a life changer--no more over-pour and spilling coffee
    • Like the flavor of the coffee better than in other coffee machines (have had it close to a year).Much prefer the insulated carafe to the usual heated one.
    • The carafe is easy to pour from without dripping, though an ounce or so of coffee will remain in the carafe; I've found this with other machines, though
    • The stainless steel carafe keeps the coffee steaming hot, and I like that as opposed to having a hot plate below like in a traditional coffee maker since we have two little ones
    • The carafe on the OXO does not keep your coffee hot for very long so if you are a leisurely coffee drinker, (you drink more than one cup over the space of an hour or so), you may have to warm your coffee in the microwave, especially if you add any cold creamers
    • Makes wonderful coffee and the carafe keeps it hot for a long time
    • The carafe gets dirty around the seam near the top again always needs to be wiped clean.
    • Carafe is easy to pour with the lid on, but kind of slow.
    • The OXO has the better carafe and the timer
    • The thermal carafe seems like solid quality
    • Instead of keeping the coffee hot by sitting the carafe on a heater (like my old coffee maker), the thermal carafe keeps the coffee hot until I'm ready for my second cup
    • We tried the KitchenAid pour over brewer but for some reason the unit that we received simply did not produce a hot enough drip....and, we hated the carafe on the KitchenAid.
    • The thermal carafe, however, just did not work
    • Te thermal carafe is awesome for me because I like to drink coffee for several hours on the weekends and the pot stays hot
    • Otherwise probably the best carafe I have experienced for keeping the coffee hot for a decent amount of time without burning it with an under the pot heater.
    • After years of experience with cone vs basket: there is no question which makes the better coffee-Programmable automatic brew; Brew-Pause feature (which drips NO coffee when used)-BEST stainless steel carafe design: ALL the coffee is dispensible w NO wild drips or coffee flying everywhere-Does momentary Infusion before/during brewing (this does NOT add any noticeable extended time to brew-time: its done in 5 minutes)Combine this w a great coffee grinder (the best out there and most convenient is the Capresso Infinity) and you're in pure coffee heaven- trust me
    • Carafe is easy to pour with the lid on, but kind of slow.
    • Carafe keeps it hot
    • If you drain your carafe and drink it all within an hour, not a huge problem, but if it's a Sunday morning and you linger with the newspaper, coffee gets cold

    • I absolutely hate lukewarm coffee but this carafe keeps the coffee hot for more than a couple hours
    • Impressive – we set our timer for 7 AM every morning, and the carafe is still hot enough for us at 9:30 AM.3

    • Easy to use, makes good coffee, and the carafe keeps it warm a good long time (especially if you preheat it but even if you don't)
    • I prefer a stainless steel carafe
    • Carafe keeps it hot for an hour or more, no leaks, and accepts a standard #4 filter and standard #4 gold permanent filter.
    • But for whatever reason, this carafe DOES NOT keep the coffee hot after the machine turns off
    • The carafe has a cool, magic top that seals the vessel but lets you pour
    • The carafe is nice, but don't expect it to keep small amounts of coffee really hot for a long time; you should pre-heat it if that's your goal.
    • Secondly, the carafe won't keep the coffee hot for more than about 1 1/2 hour.
    • - I took my wife’s kitchen thermometer, stuck it in the carafe (only warmed with hot water from tap – warmed with boiling water is not practical for me), it did not reach the bottom of the recommended range of 197.6 F degree.
    • I have tried it with grinding my own beans, as well as, with grounds and the coffee is amazing
    • As excited as I was to receive something like this to review from
    • Water doesn't stay as hot in thermos as I would like.
    • At the point it completes the cycle, the coffee made by this machine is certainly as good as, if not perceptibly better than that of the Bonavita or Capresso; but the coffee keeps better in the caraffe, it pours into the cup better, and it is much less susceptible to filter handling errors that result in rivers of hot coffee running across the counters, down the cabinets, and onto the floor.
    • My only complaint is the water/condensation that stays in where you pour the water as well as under the lid it sort of gets trapped under that rubber piece which makes me worried about mildew
    • Well made, easy to assemble and disassemble as well as to clean
    • This tastes as good as, if not better than, the clever coffee method and is much faster and easier to make
    • Overall I'd highly recommend this as long as you can live with those two limitations.
    • It shows cute little water drops on the LED as it brews, and a hot cup once it's done
    • We verified the water was the proper temperature, and we simply don't know exactly WHY the coffee isn't tasting as good as it could, but we've decided to return this and go with a less expensive option
    • coffee maker works as it should, I like

    • Ah, science is a harsh mistress!I tasted a marked difference between the two brews, and I favored the brew from the Oxo-Kalita chimera at both the 165 F serving temperature and the non-scalding 130 F temperature I prefer when I'm not paying attention
