This coffee maker occasionally even got higher marks than the Bonavita because it was easier to clean, it has a carafe that can be removed during the brewing process, and it consistently produced excellent-tasting coffee

For my money this produces the best/cleanest tasting coffee

But it’s going to give you a rich, well balanced taste

With a glass carafe with a traditional style hot plate if the coffee sits around for longer than a half hour I feel like it takes on a slightly bitter burnt taste

Knowing this, and knowing that I could probably tell the difference between a bad drip coffee and a good one but not the difference that these folks can taste, I kind of reduced the importance of the "Slightly brighter taste" feedback on the bonavita aside since the reviews said BOTH makers brewed an "Excellent" our "Outstanding" cup.

Now if you don't find that you have refined taste in how your coffee is made, then you don't have to spend the big bucks for this one

All in all a good choice for great tasting coffee, does take a little more thought than using a simple Mr Coffee type machine, making sure carafe is properly placed, screw top is properly seated, timer is functioning, but as in all things, for better coffee it is worth the effort

Water doesn't stay as hot in thermos as I would like.

At the point it completes the cycle, the coffee made by this machine is certainly as good as, if not perceptibly better than that of the Bonavita or Capresso; but the coffee keeps better in the caraffe, it pours into the cup better, and it is much less susceptible to filter handling errors that result in rivers of hot coffee running across the counters, down the cabinets, and onto the floor.

My only complaint is the water/condensation that stays in where you pour the water as well as under the lid it sort of gets trapped under that rubber piece which makes me worried about mildew

Well made, easy to assemble and disassemble as well as to clean

This tastes as good as, if not better than, the clever coffee method and is much faster and easier to make

Overall I'd highly recommend this as long as you can live with those two limitations.
