When there is not enough light, the pictures get very grainy very fast.

For the usual range of well lit to flash lit situations it makes great vacation and casual type pictures

I bought this to replace a higher end Lumix that couldn't be repaired as the old one was getting "flares" in the images in bright light.

Very washed out and could not handle outdoor light well.

If you do have enough light, then great pictures for such an economical camera.

I've had Lumix for years and loved the size and convenience and wonderful quality of the pictures.

Considering photo quality, features, extreme compact size, excellent shockproof and weather-resistant qualities AND a price that won't break your budget I would put this camera at the top of your short list of everyday fun cameras that you will want to take with you

The controls were easy to use and the zoom did a decent job finding eels hidden in the rocks about 15 feet below the surface.

From the small form factor to the logical one-door design to (most importantly) the quality of the pictures this camera holds it own - and at the current price point south of one and a half Benjamins it is a great deal; the other waterproof cameras in my comparison were more than twice the price when purchased!Overall, highly recommended especially considering the competitive price!

The only thing I would warn a potential purchaser about is that the directions on how to handle the camera after it goes under water (an attractive selling point for vacationing) are full of caveats, including one where it's suggested to avoid opening it after under water use on a beach (because you have to let out seepage, but you might get sand in)

Seriously, the poor image quality despite the 16mp rating is pretty sad.

If you are into taking photos underwater (like shallow water snorkeling, not deep diving, this is NOT a dive camera

These just blow the water out of the cell phone photos.

The water was a bit unclear, so I am not bothering posting the photos

We soaked it in fresh water and dried it thoroughly, but when we opened it, the battery was soaked in salt water, which of course killed the camera

The camera died the second day...would not even turn on.

Followed all the directions used it one day and then the next day all the pictures are hazy and there appears to be water in the camera

And then died a slow death

Optical zoom mechanism is inside the camera, which means you don't have to worry about bumping the lens while it's out (which also greatly reduces the likelihood that you'll have a fatal lens error, the death of all my previous cameras).
