Then, if you need to place the tape down on a specific width and length of paper (say, 1 x 12 inches, which is the size of a border design from scrapbook paper), you can put the waxy, shiny side of the protective paper on the sticky side of the tape, then unroll the sticky side onto the decorative paper slowly, pulling the protective paper away a little at a time
(I tried laying the sticky side down on a strip of freezer paper and that works okay, too, but the actual protective paper from the tape works better.
