Instrument separation is excellent and the diaphragm Philips has constructed doesn’t seem to show much of any signs of confusion when the music becomes complex
I don't think it's the X2's fault, it's really just me needing speakers
It was like the X2 was just a slight improvement over the HD518, with a similar frequency response
I have also the fidelio X1, which are very good, but the X2 is better
that said the X2's aren't going to fall apart when compared to the build of the aforementioned headphones
The Sennheiser HD600 sound was not muted at all but refined enough to never hiss at you like the X2 did, though the HD600 are known to not be bass heavy
the velour, memory foam ear pads feel fantastic and the headband adjusts itself quite nicely
Glued pins all over the attachment points for the replaceable ear pads
But in the end more comfortable with the self-adjustable headband and the soft velour/memory foam pads.

The Ultrasone HFI-780 has absolutely terrible sibilance/sibilant
They do win by a small margin over the HD-650’s because of the miniscule clamping force
I really wanted to like this headphone because it had a non-fatiguing sound and immersive imaging, but this headphone apparently suffers from many quality control issues

Well, I sure hope the headphones are "dry", unless they fell in the bathtub ;o)

Good while they worked -comfortable, good soundBad - these break a month or two out of warranty (12-15 months in), typically on the "R" speaker (the one without a wire)
Voices sounded thin/ again the mids were missing, it sounded more like a subwoofer with a harsher tweeter.
But here, it sounds like a subwoofer merged with a harsh tweeter.

Personally, I prefer "warm", natural sounding headphones, like a warm tone of a warm voice in an acoustic room with wood floors...not bright headphones that sound like there is a cheap turbo-charged tweeter in them.
Because there was bass, yes, but the vocals sounded as if they came from a harsh tweeter.
Only real issue is the glue on the pads, and inconsistency between units
I did contact Philips regarding the glue on the earpads, and was told that it is indeed an anomaly, and should not be present
To top it off, the glue isn't consistent, some of it has actually made its way to the inside of the mesh area where actual sound comes from literally blocking sound being able to pass through consistently
Although it was the older model, the refurbished X2 i recieved did not have the glue on ear pads issue and i was satisfied with the sound
