In case you aren't already aware: 2nd Generation Pokémon games (Gold/Silver/Crystal) have a battery inside the cartridge which keeps time and also allows the game to be saved

I love Pokemon Silver

But if you like tough, new, complicated, super-fun games, go for Gold/Silver/Krystal

Silver also still has one huge advantage over all Pokemon titles before or since, and that is the inclusion of the 8 Kanto gyms from Red and Blue

Whatever it is that draws people young and old into Pokemon obviously works, but even though Red and Blue got the series off to a great start, Silver and Gold is where the series truly lifted off

If you have only played Red, Blue, or Yellow, let me assure you that Silver (and Gold) is a major improvement.
