Well I have a Project Debut with a Vinyl table which is a superb piece of gear, so I liked the idea of matching these two.. and hoped that the hype was 1/2 true
Aside from that consideration, I am really really enjoying this piece of gear and would recommend it wholeheartedly for anyone who has an EQ that can create a 12db cut at 20hz - which is exactly how much I need to kill any subsonic feedback loop (as tested) at any meaningful volume.

Simply put, everything sounds much, much better if you compare it with the average solid state pre-amp units built in on most mainstream solid state receivers.
Overall, this is a great unit which will bring out the best in your vinyl
The Emotiva is a good unit/good value for MM no question.

Someone in the comments mentioned that it is impossible for it to be really using the tubes because of the power supply that came with it wasn’t enough to power the tubes... as if a solid-state is hidden inside.
Can someone tell me if u see a solid-state anything here?

It was all I hoped for; it created a magically warm, lush and beautiful soundstage on my modest system, letting it burn in for awhile boosted this even more

However, I then engaged the appropriate settings for a MC cartridge and the tone improved measurably.. very musical and surprisingly very flat.. but not limp.

but, I replaced the 12ax-7 tube with a matched set of Telefunken tubes and picked a pair of Grounded Brass Tube Crowns from MapleShade audio (about $82 for the pair) and did make some positive difference and, in my opinion, worth the price
The difference between the Tube Box S and the built-in phono stage on my amp is astounding, and has to be heard to be believed

If you spend less (I have two less expensive pre-amps), you get less sound openess, but the couple of more expensive pre-amps did not add a meaningful degree of more enjoyable sound

Wow, the old tubes are even more detailed, warm and smooth
Anything with tubes should have a standby to keep the tubes hot but cutting the audio circuit, for connecting a guitar or getting past the initial skip on an album, in this case
Out of the box it sounded a little thin, but I think the tubes take some breaking in.
I’m not gonna lie - the tubes are fun to stare at, too.

expensive purchases that receive rave reviews are something that i'm usually very skeptical of ... it took me a long time to arrive at the decision to purchase this amp instead of something else
