Reviews around shot (5.00 of 5)

  • The only problem is, I find that photos between f4-f2.8 are very distorted, otherwise it takes great shots.
  • I was able to get some pretty great shots in various types of lighting, I cant wait to get this out to an event and snap some photos.
  • but I got some great shots of my baby girl this Christmas with this lens!
  • 2.8 aperture lets me stop down to get great shots in low light, too.
  • When I want to carry my camera around and be able to take great shots in any situation, but don't want to carry other lenses, this is my go to

Reviews around price (4.80 of 5)

  • For a cheap price you get L Series pictures its really that good go for it you wont be disappointed.
  • Otherwise this is a great wide fixed lens for a reasonable price
  • Not the best lens obviously, but good price for function.
  • Like everyone says, this lens is excellent, as well as an excellent price
  • So, overall I would say this a very good lens for a good price.

Reviews around lense (4.63 of 5)

  • I had high hopes for this lens because I have the 40mm pancake and it is one of my favorite lenses
  • I expected the STM lens to be as quiet as other STM lenses normally are
  • After having this lens for a few years now, I can honestly say it is one of my favorite lenses to use for landscape and for getting wide angle film clips
  • I typically abuse my lenses, so the size is a definite plus. fairly quick autofocus but not silent
  • It's one of my sharpest lenses in my kit, and I own a VERY expensive 70-200mm f/2.8

Reviews around color (4.59 of 5)

  • The colors are nice and rich, and it’s a good walk around lens.
  • The lens is tack-sharp wide open, with excellent contrast and color
  • Color aberration, or lack of it, is incredible for a lens at this price and tier
  • The lens feels sturdy (metal mount), is pretty sharp and the colors pop well
  • The lens produces sharp, vivid colors, good contrast, and I did not notice any chromatic aberration around the edges that are characteristic of some wide angle lens

Reviews around quality (4.53 of 5)

  • My review is not intended to disparage the quality of the
  • The photos are all very blurry even in auto non-flash and the edges aren't crisp.. really disappointed as I really really wanted to like product and after testing two they didn't meet expectation.
  • Very good quality lens for the price alongside the "nifty
  • It’s a great portrait lens, offering much better quality photos
  • Great lens for the money...clearer than my nifty 50...and tremendous build quality.

Reviews around pancake (4.47 of 5)

  • This is a great little pancake lens that turns my EOS100D into a straight forward 35mm camera
  • great pancake lens for my canon 70d, steps up to something like 37mm with the crop frame
  • This pancake lens feels very sturdy and is very compact
  • The photos are all very blurry even in auto non-flash and the edges aren't crisp.. really disappointed as I really really wanted to like product and after testing two they didn't meet expectation.

Reviews around mm (4.32 of 5)

  • The 50mm effectively becomes an 80mm which may be ideal for portraiture work, but it's just not as useful as this 24mm
  • I got this as a birthday gift after my wife kept hearing how much I love my 50mm f/1.8 but always complained when I used it in tight rooms
  • There are not a lot of lenses in this price range that are as universally good as the 24mm F2.8.
  • the more expensive 18-135mm IS USM.
  • It's a great and cheap almost "35mm" lens for a crop sensor camera

Reviews around walk (4.30 of 5)

  • This lens is quickly becoming my favorite walk around lens
  • It does alright for landscapes and is a good walk around lens on my Canon
  • The colors are nice and rich, and it’s a good walk around lens.
  • The photos are all very blurry even in auto non-flash and the edges aren't crisp.. really disappointed as I really really wanted to like product and after testing two they didn't meet expectation.

Reviews around image (4.26 of 5)

  • The photos are all very blurry even in auto non-flash and the edges aren't crisp.. really disappointed as I really really wanted to like product and after testing two they didn't meet expectation.
  • Unfortunately I did not have a sturdy tripod when taking these photos so the images are not very sharp but overall I am thrilled with this lens
  • QualityFor a lens this size and its price point, this little thing takes some fantastic images
  • The build quality is cheap, not going to lie, but the image this thing captures is top notch
  • I've been happy with the image quality, images look fairly sharp and the f2.8 helps when the lighting isn't great.

Reviews around angle (3.82 of 5)

  • probably makes a difference :-o)Anyway, if you want a cheap wide angle, get this lens
  • Its angle of view isn’t as large as I would like, and the lack of a zoom destroys any ability to “crop” the scene with the lens; however, it is a good angle of view, is very sharp, very fast, and a pleasure to use on the camera
  • I take it wherever I go - its nice to have a quick AF wide-angle indoor that's not super expensive.
  • The photos are all very blurry even in auto non-flash and the edges aren't crisp.. really disappointed as I really really wanted to like product and after testing two they didn't meet expectation.
  • Great wide angle lens, I use it all the time in tight spaces like indoors

Reviews around focus (3.62 of 5)

  • But, neither of those are F2.8 lenses, and the ones that are F2.8 are very expensive and lack silent focus.
  • It's also excellent for video's and has a crazy quiet focus motor
  • It's incredibly frustrating to take a photo only to realize the focus is entirely messed up once it's on a large screen.
  • Focus is great and fast (faster than the kit lens for sure)
  • I have not had any trouble getting proper focus with this lens even when shooting quick moving subjects like my dog running around at the dog park

Reviews around background blur (2.02 of 5)

  • Pros : excellent photos in bright lightVery sharp when area is in focusPleasant background blurring or bokeh at wide apertureCan focus on very near objects - does macros wellFlat and lightCons : indoors or outdoors after sunset seems to require very high ISO or a flashFocusing is quiet, but does not track fast enough for normal video
  • Like any camera a tripod or monopod enhances low light shooting - when the venues allow them!!!Autofocus works well and the transition to and from manual for certain shots is quick such as into museum display cases and wildlife in foliage that could otherwise spoof an autofocus
  • Great for general purpose shooting, as well as for selfies when you hold your camera at arm’s length.
  • Don't get this lens if you're looking for a lot of background bokeh though; due to the focal length and maximum aperture you can only get a small amount of background blur when focusing about 5-10 feet away (see the attachment).
  • The photos are all very blurry even in auto non-flash and the edges aren't crisp.. really disappointed as I really really wanted to like product and after testing two they didn't meet expectation.

Reviews around noise (1.26 of 5)

  • It performs great a s a walk around lens as well, though you dont have a zoom range like on a traditional walk around lens it gives great wide angle shots as well as close ups second to none
  • Within two months started to make a very loud clicking noise when trying to focus
  • If it's constantly trying to auto focus, the noise drives me crazy
  • but I had two products sent and both had a weird humming noise, focus hunts a bit too
  • Motor makes a funny noise when trying to focus but will not focus
