Reviews around size (5.00 of 5)

  • After using my wife's M3 I found that I really like the compact size
  • The size, shape, features -- and explanations -- are perfect for a relative beginner like me who's looking to really learn
  • This camera is the perfect size, and with the 22mm lens which I recommend, it can fit in your pocket
  • It is an excellent general purpose camera for those who want something nicer than a point and shoot, the ability to change lenses, good image and video quality, and relative compact size that will fit a system in a resonably small bag
  • Perfect for a DSLR lover who hight needs quality images at compact size and better price!

Reviews around light (5.00 of 5)

  • I'm not seeing any focus issues with any of the lenses (70-200F4, 24-70F2.8, 100 macro, 100-400 II) even in low enough light that the ISO was at 6400.And that segues nicely into image quality
  • Pros: Relatively smaller & lighter than EOS, my EF lens can be used with the converterCons: Less lens line-up yet, not so small & light as I thought
  • (half the distance from the center of the lens to the edge of the lens) even stopped down-Vignetting-Barrel distortion-Slightly soft wide openThe autofocus:In good lighting It is similar to a modern prosumer slr like the 5D maybe slightly faster
  • Autofocus takes substantially longer, and requires bright light to work at all.
  • As with most recent sensors, higher ISOs have less noise when more light is available, allowing for quicker shutter times so YMMV.

Reviews around body (5.00 of 5)

  • The body is compact, and has an excellent and intuitive layout
  • Although the body was solid, there would be some creaks that made it felt cheap-Set button has a loose feel (as with previous experience with original M)-Photos were soft and grainy (Best shot in bright areas)-Tilting flip screen felt flimsy-Lack of EVF
  • It's also a great budget crop body for those times you want extra reach for EF lenses
  • It has a nice, somewhat compact, solid body and the lens that comes with isn't all that
  • Here is a list of pros and cons:Pros:-Tilting/Selfie Flip screen-Solid body (plastic but doesn't feel too cheap)-Internal flash (can be used for bounce flash)-Dials have a nice feel-Small (bigger than original M but at least smaller than a DLSR.-Focus peaking for manual-Familiar to Canon

Reviews around lense (5.00 of 5)

  • The 18-55 and 55-200 lenses are pretty good but probably not a justification for buying an EOS M camera
  • (The EF-M lenses that fit this camera without an adapter are plenty good, but the EF-S and EF lenses open up a whole new world of creative possibilities
  • The different shooting modes allow you to get creative with your photography, and -- if you have the EF lens adaptor -- you have a wide variety of very good Canon lenses to use
  • I've found the best bag for this camera and two or three lenses and accessories to
  • If you don't plan on shooting a lot of moving things and you just want excellent image quality in a small package at a decent price with a selection of good lenses (not many, but the ones in existence are very good), then look no further.

Reviews around product (5.00 of 5)

Reviews around dslr (5.00 of 5)

  • I own a very nice Canon DSLR, but wanted something more portable and compatible
  • love this camera, half the size of my dslr but puts out great quality photos, I may not use the dslr again.
  • The small size of the body means you can drop it in a pocket (with the lens off), it has a decent set of native lens options, and the optional lens adapter lets you use any Canon-compatible cropped sensor DSLR lens with the M3 body
  • shoots as clear as a DSLR but is a lot more compact and easier to take places

Reviews around image (4.70 of 5)

  • I previously owned the original M and although I loved the small form factor, great quality images but hated the slow autofocus speeds and battery life.
  • I previously owned the original M and although I loved the small form factor, great quality images but hated the slow autofocus speeds and battery life.
  • Don't get me wrong, I love the X-Pro2 and already have some great images from it, but it can't beat the M3 for size
  • You cannot turn off exposure simulation so if you are manually exposing for a flash, the image on the screen goes dark so you cannot compose or focus your shot
  • The EPL-1 did a good job of pretending to be a good camera: shutter speeds were fast, and previewed images looked sharp and beautiful

Reviews around photo (4.53 of 5)

  • I missed photos because of the shutter lag, especially when combined with the poor autofocus performance.
  • My experience so far with this Canon (EOS M3) is that it does deliver some really nice quality photo's from something that's packed into a nice and well built compact design
  • I have a samsung nx500 and nx300 Canon eos m3 a beautiful crisp photos
  • Takes great photos and is so compact compared to standard DSLR's.
  • The M3 takes beautiful photos but for some reason does not have the same menu system as Canon DSLR's, an incredibly stupid decision

Reviews around quality (4.36 of 5)

  • The sound quality for video is acceptable but again not great
  • love this camera, half the size of my dslr but puts out great quality photos, I may not use the dslr again.
  • Even a cursory glance at the sample images comparing the EOS M3 to the A6000 using the kit lens easily reveals that the combination of a Canon lens and the EOS M3 utterly destroys the Sony equivalent as far as image quality
  • Great image quality, however no view finder was a show-stopper for me
  • It works great paired with the 22 f2 as a lightweight travel camera with great image quality.

Reviews around video (4.33 of 5)

  • Wifi-Enjoyed making videos due to the size and the flip screenCons:-Struggles to find AF in low light.-Old Canon Legacy menu layout (needs an update)-Tricky exposure (Groups of pictures
  • It takes good video with relatively good built-in mic, as well as a mic jack
  • Love this little camera all the setting allows for so many options and the video is really good .
  • Some reviewers have remarked on the comparatively slow video
  • Images are solid & video function adjust to light fairly quickly

Reviews around build (3.86 of 5)

  • The built in viewfinder issue has been corrected by Canon with the release of the Canon EOS M5.
  • Similarly the flash sometimes popped out when not intended (and of course the built-in flash is unusable with any EOS lens attached, so I didn't want to use it at all)
  • It however can become sluggish at times making you question yourself over the price tag and feature set, but don't be too alarmed as for a camera that can provide quality images and mirrorless interchangeable-lens you will hard pushed to find something as well built as this EOS M3
  • The build of the body is solid, if not even nicely rugged, and has a nice feel to it
  • For me however, unless I am in bright sunlight, and I cannot see the image on the LCD screen very well, the built in viewfinder is not a very serious issue.

Reviews around screen (3.56 of 5)

  • The Fold out screen is great for high or low shots including (shudders) Selfies
  • The articulating screen is nice although I do worry a little about scratching/mangling all of that exposed screen and attachment
  • Fantastic upgrade in all ways to the EOS-M. Is definitely on par with other mirrorless options.+LCD screen very bright, even in sunlight+rotating
  • I loved that this was white and the weight was good, but the screen on the back seemed flimsy to
  • The articulating screen is nice although I do worry a little about scratching/mangling all of that exposed screen and attachment

Reviews around volume (2.94 of 5)

  • Like the M and SL1 before it, the M3 features Movie Servo: camcorder-like follow focus
  • That being said, the IQ of the camera is a great step up from the already great EOS M, and the AF is greatly, greatly improved
  • EITHER LOSE VOLUME TO YOUR OWN
  • I previously owned the original M and although I loved the small form factor, great quality images but hated the slow autofocus speeds and battery life.
  • YOU WILL LOSE VOLUME
