But it is out preforming with lens and with the A7rII it's a pretty amazing combo.

Lens is absolutely amazing

Finally, have a great camera (Sony a7r ii) paired with an equally great lens.

Pictures are magnificent, awesome bokeh and auto focus is all way better than the f4 lens.

Great lens and at 24-70mm, this will cover most shots for an average hobbiest/enthusiast with amazing clarity.

This lens is a perfect combo of a7rii.

But it is out preforming with lens and with the A7rII it's a pretty amazing combo.

I use it with my A7Rii and it consistently produces photos that just look really impressive overall.

This lens is a perfect combo of a7rii.

Zeiss Auto focus with adapter on A7rii is impressive and definitely matches with the G master.

Great lens for the A7Rii!

Overall, this lens is awesome and has quickly become my most frequently used lens for my A7Rii followed by my 16-35 GM.

The build quality is fabulous.

Build quality is great, love the actual manual focus switch on the lens.

Build quality is really good if feels like a tank just like the canon counterpart.

The build quality is unmatched.

In summary:ProsExcellent build quality with gaskets and weather sealingSilent, accurate and fast autofocusQuite sharp even wide open at F2.

Build & quality are the best.

Finally, have a great camera (Sony a7r ii) paired with an equally great lens.

Nice and sharp images and focus' fast with my Sony A7r iii.

Works great on my Sony ar7ii

This is beautiful sony lens all around .

Sony is great, and I love my A77, but they overprice EVERYTHING!!!

I've owned both the Sony A7II and the A6300 (which I sold as a favor, it is a great camera).

And the are all awesome solid lenses.

8 lenses a popular choice for many photographers.

I own 4 other Sony lenses.

My experience with Sigma Art Lenses is that there is minimal distortion.

I came over from Canon L-glass, and I must say, sony is ready to trample over canon and Nikon with the g-series lenses.

It's great not having to lug 5 lenses around with me everywhere I go and risk getting dust on the sensor when I'm changing them.

Great focus and color but hefty

Overall though, it is an excellent lens and fast to focus.

Color rendition is very good, on a par with the CZ while not quite having the famed CZ "pop" It's still contrasty and very crisp when the focus is on point.

Sony FE 24-70mm f/2.8 GM Lens

I've been using A6300s for about a year and a half for video and finally bit the bullet and bought my self the new a7Riii I had already purchased the 24-240 a while back (another great lens) but really wanted that low light performance I was used to with my canon so this was a pretty obvious choice.

2) Extreme curvature of focus plane3) Squashed bokeh at the edges and in the corners4) Nervous onion ring pattern inside bokeh5) On A7R II fails to focus at F9 and above in bright sunlight and in low light even at F2.

8, I can get great results even in low light.

Yes, it is big and heavy, but worth it for the quality and extra speed in low light.

In low light it may give up focusing even at F2.

If you really want the absolute best pictures, use the wide open setting a lot (and I do for the beautiful bokeh and for low light shots without flash), and a manual focus that is usable vs unusable and don’t mind the extra size, then yes, it is.

The bokeh is nice.

Even the bokeh is pleasant and very usable.

Fantastic bokeh.

The pictures just look great aside from bokeh also.

- Nice to have the zoom lock feature when you need it- Nice and sharp wide open, and throughout the zoom range (You can see a difference wide open at the end of the zoom range, but the photos are still very good)- After shooting a little with this lens, and taking about 100 pictures, very few of them had any chromatic aberration.

8 A-Mount, couple with the Sony LA-EA4 adaptor to convert the A-mount to an E-Mount, and the pictures were fine, but I was frustrated with the lack of AF functionality as the Tamron was using the AF feature built into the LA-EA4, which is the equivalent of the older type AF used on the Sony A37, A65, and A57 cameras, which only had 15 point contrast AF and only worked to EV-1 (how dark it can AF on).

This is my first high end lense so I don't have much to compare it to but the pictures I have taken are the best I've made.

Sony FE 24-70mm f/2.8 GM Lens

The Zoom itself is very smooth and quick.

The image quality of this lens is quite spectacular throughout the zoom range.

If you are looking to get a standard zoom for your Sony mirror-less, this is a great option.

They've somehow figured out how to encapsulate all of the desirable optical qualities you'd get with a very good prime into a zoom.

It works as advertised, locking out the zoom at 24mm.

The zoom is smooth and manual focus is easy to use.

very sharp and image quality is amazing.

Fabulous image quality.

The image quality of this lens is quite spectacular throughout the zoom range.

image quality is as good as it can get, but the lens itself is extremely heavy and personally a pain to lug around.

As you can see from the pic this lens is a monster on the A 6000, and makes this setup extremely top heavy, but that's ok as the image quality is what ultimately counts!

Sony FE 24-70mm f/2.8 GM Lens

8 aperture along with the flexibility of the zoom range make 24-70mm F2.

8 aperture across the zoom range.

), and in my experience, a little bit of noticeable clicking when zooming, both at the 24mm and 70mm end (when the lens apparatus inside hits the dampers at either end of the zoom range) but also sometimes in the middle (around 50mm or so).

Reviews around chromatic aberration (2.3/5)
( 8 )

Sony FE 24-70mm f/2.8 GM Lens

The A7Sii is only 12MP, so, don't know if that has anything to do with this, but also don't notice much distortion or chromatic aberration.

PROS:1) Generally sharp except edges and corners though worse than competition2) Bokeh is close to circular except for edges and corners3) Chromatic aberration is well controlled in the center4) Fast and silent autofocusCONS THAT CANNOT BE CORRECTED:1) No corner-to-corner sharpness.

3) Bokeh at extreme edge4) Bokeh at extreme corner5) Chromatic aberration (purple fringing) in the corner.

Extremely sharp for a zoom and correcting any chromatic aberration, or lens distortion was easily handled in Lightroom.

CHROMATIC ABERRATIONChromatic aberration is mostly well controlled but nevertheless result is SEVERAL PIXEL WIDE PURPLE FRINGING in the corners.

CONS THAT CAN BE CORRECTED IN SOFTWARE:8) Distortion (from pincushion to barrel) and astigmatism9) Several pixels wide chromatic aberration in the corners.

Finally, have a great camera (Sony a7r ii) paired with an equally great lens.

This will probably be the lens on this camera 80% of the time (along with my very old but still great G f2.

For the average enthusiast you may find this lens stays attached to your camera for much of the time due to its versatility and great performance.

I've owned both the Sony A7II and the A6300 (which I sold as a favor, it is a great camera).

Good camera deserves a good lens.

Love this lens on my a6300 body camera

Sony FE 24-70mm f/2.8 GM Lens

the colors are very nice, a bit on the cool side, which I prefer, and contrast is excellent.

I've been using A6300s for about a year and a half for video and finally bit the bullet and bought my self the new a7Riii I had already purchased the 24-240 a while back (another great lens) but really wanted that low light performance I was used to with my canon so this was a pretty obvious choice.

It's a great general-purpose lens that gets a bit hairy around the edges when pressed into event or sports photography.

I use this lens on My Sony A7RIII, Very crisp from Edge to Edge, The Focus is quick and amazing, My Only complain is, a bit heavy

It is heavier, and costlier, but is every bit as good as the A mount CZ in same focal lengths.

CA, in case there are any other novices looking at this lens, is when some colors shift a bit, so contrast lines have a faint greenish or bluish border.

Reviews around battery grip (2.8/5)
( 7 )

Sony FE 24-70mm f/2.8 GM Lens

The battery grip keeps this in check and provides a better hand hold.

Wish Sony had larger cameras with full hand grip (like Canon and Nikon do) to match this lens and to have better battery life.

the only downside is its front heavy with my Camera but can be solved with a battery grip in the future.

I thank the photo gods for Sony's in camera stabilization because hand holding the A7ii with the battery grip and 24-70 is a recipe for disaster at slower shutter speeds.

Without the battery grip I could see things getting a bit dicy with the set-up.

I would recommend getting at least a Newer Battery Grip before getting the 24-70.

Reviews around 16-35 (4.1/5)
( 8 )

Sony FE 24-70mm f/2.8 GM Lens

Overall, this lens is awesome and has quickly become my most frequently used lens for my A7Rii followed by my 16-35 GM.

8 and the FE 16-35 F4 : At 24mm, surprisingly, the 16-35 seems a little sharper both in center and corners and there is also less distortion.

8L II by Canon) but also significantly longer and heavier than the 16-35 GM, the exorbitant cost (more expensive than the Canon by a whopping 300 USD, and with the current Canon 200 USD instant rebate, 500 USD more!

Other good features is the very clean design aesthetic (unlike the messy Canon and Nikon lenses), the solid build quality (mix of metal and high quality polycarbonate plastic in the exterior and supposedly inside as well), the same 82mm filter thread like the 16-35 GM, the focus lock button that can be reprogrammed for a certain number of other functions (not as many as a regular function or programmable button though), the AF/MF toggle switch, and the zoom lock button (only at 24mm).

This one is my new favorite lens though and I like to carry it around more than the 16-35 GM even though it is noticeably larger and heavier because it is so good at portraits at 70mm whereas the 16-35 GM is limited to 35mm which just doesn't give as good bokeh as 70mm on the 24-70 GM (of course, both wide open at 2.

I am an amateur and own two other lenses at this time, the 16-35/2.

Reviews around manual focus (2.5/5)

Sony FE 24-70mm f/2.8 GM Lens

Now it is not NEARLY as bad as the focus by wire manual focus on the f4 lens.

If you really want the absolute best pictures, use the wide open setting a lot (and I do for the beautiful bokeh and for low light shots without flash), and a manual focus that is usable vs unusable and don’t mind the extra size, then yes, it is.

For over $2k there is no excuse not to have true manual focus.

Now I have some manual focus Samyang/Rokinon lens that I use when I am doing specific manual focus work/macro work, so I can deal with this for the occasional manual focus with this lens, but still this is concerning.

Simple, I do like to manual focus quite a bit, and this is something new, that I never knew existed until I got the f4 lens, called focus by wire.

And if you really do a lot of manual focus then you probably should invest in a few good Rokinon primes instead (for about the same price!

Reviews around g master (4.7/5)
( 8 )

Sony FE 24-70mm f/2.8 GM Lens

Zeiss Auto focus with adapter on A7rii is impressive and definitely matches with the G master.

G Master.

If you really don't care about the some focusing features that you get with the gmaster then Zeiss a-mount version is far superior than the g master.

I got the zeiss glass almost $600 dollar less than the G MASTER and i'm completely happy with the Zeiss glass.

If you are upgrading from zeiss 24-70 f4 lens ,then i would highly recommend g master .

My next lens will definitely be the G master 70-200mm as soon as I sell a kidney.

I'm returning the Gmaster and decided to keep the Zeiss glass.

I got the zeiss glass almost $600 dollar less than the G MASTER and i'm completely happy with the Zeiss glass.

( eye auto focus)The sharpness are identical on both lenses but the color balance is way better on the zeiss glass.

If you owned the a- mount version of 24-70 zeiss glass ,then you will not be wowed with its performance.
