  • I really recomend this product because of price and quality
  • I own another Tamron lens and love them both this one is another awesome product for the money!
  • I highly recommend this product for any Nikon models out there
  • I think this is a lens that any one that is just starting with fotography should have, it has great depth of field pitcture quality and for the price is a well built product
  • A great product easy to use when you need those longer range shots

Reviews around result (5.00 of 5)

  • Most of my pics have been outside, but a few were inside, and the results have been uniformly good
  • But, if you keep a steady hand, you will get good results with this lens
  • On a tripod, I can get excellent results at all focal lengths as long as I remember to stop it down at the longer focal lengths.
  • If you don't- this lens will work and the results are good.
  • No it can't compete with my 50mm and 60mm prime lenses for sharpness, but the results are still very good - crazy good given how much this lens cost

Reviews around buy (5.00 of 5)

  • excellent buy, easy to use, greatly expanded use of my Nikon 3200
  • I don't know if it performs as well as a Nikon lens would, but it is a great buy just price wise.
  • This lens is tremendous..its clarity is astounding..the pictures reveal things that cannot be seen with the naked eye..the macro feature is worth the price alone..you will not be disappointed with this lens ..a "GREAT BUY" !
  • For the price it is a good buy, its not a purchase I regret and its certainly a lens I'd recommend.
  • A solid mechanism for even professionals and for the money a great buy.

Reviews around value (4.69 of 5)

  • I have greatly enjoyed this new lens as it works flawlessly with my Nikon D5100.
  • Has good color rendition, but has no shake compensation so hand holding is a bit of a risk as I believe it is less sharp than OEM camera lens as expected, tripod is recommended...still probably a value at the price paid.
  • I would definitely recommend buying this lens as it's such a great value.
  • As with many reviews before me, I agree you get what you pay for but this lens is a great value for the money
  • At around $140, this lens is a remarkable value and worthy of a 5-star Amazon rating, though I'd give it 4.5 stars if that option were available.

Reviews around quality (4.51 of 5)

  • For the price, it's great, takes good quality pictures and zooms nicely.
  • It's still an amazing lens, but please remember that this is still a relatively cheap lens so the build quality is a little touchy in some areas.
  • Other than that the build is solid, just of poor quality.
  • However I'd recommend saving up for a better quality Nikon Lens
  • Good quality lense arrived on time and got a great deal

Reviews around shot (4.41 of 5)

  • That being said, I have some really nice shots I did with the lens still.
  • I was able to get a few beautifully crisp shots but not at 70mm
  • But if you are looking for a lens to take beautiful, clear long range shots, this is great!
  • Unfortunately, the lens was so slow to focus that I only got blurry shots
  • And in the beginning, I found that I was able to get some amazing shots

Reviews around price (4.32 of 5)

  • This is a discontinued lens but can still be found new for a VERY good price, and used for even less
  • Lovely lens for a very reasonable price compatible with my Nikon D3200.
  • I ended up buying a discontinued Nikon DX zoom lens at great discounted price (comparable to this Tamron's), with VR
  • He is very happy with the purchase because the price was less expensive than the original Nikon lens and the job is done
  • I was really deterred by the price and nervous about the lack of image stabilization, being that I'm not very steady handed

Reviews around macro (4.18 of 5)

  • Macro never worked better than this one
  • Not until I was inside a butterfly emporium did I realize what a great macro this lens possessed.
  • What I did like about this lens was its capability for good Macro
  • I was able to take few really good macros with this lens and it justified the purchase
  • I know I like the macro and enjoy the added distance for taking photos, I am still getting use to the lens though so will probably update this again later.

Reviews around lense (4.04 of 5)

  • Good quality lense arrived on time and got a great deal
  • The Nikon lenses are way more expensive and probably not worth it for anyone not sending their pics to Natl
  • Depth of fiels is good but not as good as a prime lense
  • It doens't focus very quickly - and at times has trouble finding what you want - as many of these new, less expensive lenses do
  • I used to sell these lens in the camera shop I worked at when I was 18 yrs old (yep I am getting on a bit) and then they were expensive lenses with good optics and I could never afford them, Sigma was the best I could

Reviews around bite (1.95 of 5)

  • It's just a bit soft on the far end, but can be adjusted if you shoot in RAW mode.
  • The switch between tele (normal) mode is a bit difficult to do at times, and it sometimes is hard to tell which mode it is in until you try to focus on something and find out you can't and realize you're not in the mode you think you are
  • Those are really the only things this lens is missing, a bit more range and image stability
  • The motor is a bit loud but, to have one in a lens of this price is great.
  • The lens is a bit soft at the larger apertures (I haven't tried smaller ones yet), particularly at the 300mm range

Reviews around vr (1.44 of 5)

  • Fits perfectly into my Nikon camera bagCons:o Trouble getting to auto focus in poor lighto No vibration reduction (VR), so any moderate shake could lead to slightly blurred pictureso
  • The only disadvantage to this lens over the Nikkor lens would be the VR (vibration reduction).
  • The next step up is $400+ which gets you vibration control ("VR" in Nikon speak), but from what I have read, is basically the same optically (the same seems to be true for Nikon's own 70-300mm lens as well)
  • The only thing I could wish for would be a VR (vibration reduction or 'image stabilization') setting (at my age, I experience 'essential tremor,' which makes holding the camera steady a challenge).
  • The only thing it doesn't have that I wish it did, for the size of the lens is the VR Vibration Reduction

  • Zoom in to 300mm from a distance AF 70-300mm f/4.0-5.6 Di LD Macro Zoom Lens Features Low Dispersion (LD) Glass for Greater Lens Sharpness Low dispersion (LD) glass elements in a lens help reduce chromatic aberration; the tendency of light of different colors to come to different points of focus at the image plane
  • Chromatic aberration reduces the sharpness of an image, but glass with an extremely low dispersion index, has less of a tendency to separate (defract) a ray of light into a rainbow of colors
  • This characteristic allows the lens designer to effectively compensate for chromatic aberration at the center of the field (on axis), a particular problem at long focal lengths (the telephoto end of the zoom range), and for lateral chromatic aberration (towards the edges of the field) that often occurs at short focal lengths (the wide-angle end of the zoom range.)"
