Reviews around thing (5.00 of 5)

  • I believe the H-RODS by ProMark are the greatest thing since sliced bread
  • The ride does not cut at all, and on a flat ride these things can almost be silent.
  • I will not play with normal drum sticks unless I am forced too.these things are so comfy and look so nice
  • There are so many amazing things that I could say about H-RODS by ProMark
  • There are so many good things that I can say about these drumsticks

Reviews around size (5.00 of 5)

  • I prefer the original, medium sized H-Rod, but you can get more power out of the T-Rods or more dexterity out of the C-Rods.
  • I prefer the regular hot rod size for easier volume control.
  • If you are a technical junkie that can't handle anything other than your favorite brand/size of sticks, you will hate these.

Reviews around product (4.79 of 5)

  • The product is seems great, its lighter than the conventional sticks
  • I paid a higher price for a clearly inferior product at Guitar Center.
  • A great product that is good for playing at a lower volume in sound-senstative gigs, while also retaining some sense of rigidity.
  • Got the same great pro-mark product for an incredible price!!!
  • These are a great product and I have to have them, however I have yet to see any prices on here that are so mouth-droppingly low that I have to buy them from Amazon

Reviews around feel (4.49 of 5)

  • Instead of a satisfying snap when you connect with a drum head or a cymbal, thee's a kind of mushy, vague feeling
  • As a drummer for my church I often find myself trying to use different drumsticks that cause me to play softer; it gives the song a gentler feel
  • The only real purpose I've found for them is playing drums with as realistic a feel as possible which reducing the volume slightly.
  • I'm on my first pair of H-Rods, and I couldn't be happier with the hand-feel and the sound
  • These are the most aggressive of the dowel-rods from Promark, and they have a good feel

Reviews around volume (4.45 of 5)

  • I prefer the regular hot rod size for easier volume control.
  • The Cool Rods and the Hot Rods (louder in volume) are great to knock down the volume and attack for playing at Churches
  • Meaning you can still play just about as hard as you would with regular drum sticks, but the volume will be noticeably softer
  • The Thunder Rods last alot longer (which is to be expected from the bigger dowels), and the volume they create is just right for small room practicing.
  • I play a modified kit in an acoustic trio, and I've tried a lot of different types of rods & brushes to find the right volume for my situation.

Reviews around sound (4.33 of 5)

  • Makes drum sound in the house much, much quieter but still has a great sound.
  • Use them a lot with the snare chain down... great sound.
  • More sturdy than the hotrod, but still a softer sound than a stick.
  • Like the sound too not so much of that snap to the sound, but still sounds great.
  • These are great sticks with a softer sound to accompany records (of course I still have vinyl!

Reviews around quality (4.33 of 5)

  • Bought these sticks to see if that might help and it definitely improved our sound quality.
  • Next time I’ll probably make my own for the price, but they are good quality.
  • Great combo purchase, bought them as a part of a gift for my co worker husband, great quality!
  • T-Rods are of good quality, but are much to heavy for what I want
  • these do as you would expect, i have to say they could be used as "proper" sticks (as in to use for gigs etc or at church etc) as they really bring out the brightness out of the cymbals and give a good warm sound from the tomsafter some heavy use they started to break as you would expect but they are definitely worth it

Reviews around rod (4.28 of 5)

  • These hot rods are for when you need to play a little quieter
  • It also gives a lighter feel when drumming with the hot rods.
  • If you really get wild with them, the little rods will break.
  • But these would be a good midway point between hot rods and sticks.
  • I prefer the lightning rods or the hot rods which feel more like 5a's

Reviews around price (4.21 of 5)

  • Got the same great pro-mark product for an incredible price!!!
  • Only draw back is I think the price is a bit steep.
  • These rods we're a great price and preformed exactly as I had expected
  • but I hate their price

Reviews around way (4.16 of 5)

  • these do as you would expect, i have to say they could be used as "proper" sticks (as in to use for gigs etc or at church etc) as they really bring out the brightness out of the cymbals and give a good warm sound from the tomsafter some heavy use they started to break as you would expect but they are definitely worth it
  • they are a good way to bring down volume without hitting softly
  • A great way to play and keep to a softer volume in a smaller venue.
  • They lack durability and cost a bit much for what they are, but it's a great way to keep the volume down
  • on some material i like the way they sound better then sticks.

Reviews around stick (3.95 of 5)

  • Great sticks for practice and for playing live at church
  • These are great sticks but they don't seem to be lasting as long as they used to
  • I don't play hard at all, but I even manage to break one in half, literally! The advantage is that they are not as loud as regular sticks, and for jazz or blues, R&B or any other unplugged session that requires low(er) volumes on drums, these are awesome
  • They are comfortable, quiet, durable, and great practice sticks
  • So, it goes to show the smalls sticks begin to lose their tenacity, and with that, its volume and "heaviness" when hitting the drums

Reviews around balance (3.44 of 5)

  • They offer a nice balance between sticks and brushes, dynamically speaking
  • They are quieter than regular sticks and they have a great feel/balance, but you can definitely make some noise with them if you want to
  • these do as you would expect, i have to say they could be used as "proper" sticks (as in to use for gigs etc or at church etc) as they really bring out the brightness out of the cymbals and give a good warm sound from the tomsafter some heavy use they started to break as you would expect but they are definitely worth it

  • Durable, well-balanced and should definitely be in every drummer's stick bag

Reviews around dowel (1.00 of 5)

  • For a bunch of cheap dowels taped together, these are very expensive.
  • after enough rim shots and crashes the dowels break one by one
  • The dowels still tend to break somewhat easily but that's a fact of life
  • However, the individuals dowels splinter and break rather easily, and after only two months of playing each rod went from 19 dowels to about 10 dowels (and the change in sound and feel was noticeable).I recommend using Vic Firth's bamboo tala wands instead
