Velcro pad blocking enables the case to fit most Standard cut bassoons and holds Compact or Gentleman’s cut bassoons securely as well.
I also purchased a replacement tool pouch for the other brand of top-loading bassoon cases, glued a strip of Velco to the back of it, and stuck it to the Velco strip inside the flap of this case for even more storage
and my hard case was thrown off the back seat -- fortunately the bassoon wasn't damaged

Originally purchased as a replacement case for my baroque bassoon I found this gig bag will fit also a pair of baroque or classical bassoons quite nicely, or a modern and baroque instrument with some finesse
At first I was a little bit leery of a case that wasn't a hard-shell wooden case, but then I remembered that I've been carrying my contrabassoon around in a gig-bag that has less padding than this case for almost 40 years, and I've learned to be careful with that case so the instrument isn't damaged.
It is well built and it proctects the valuable instrument just as well as a hard case
