Had to call tech support to learn that the monitor only turns on if it revives a signal.

I did hook the monitor to a camera I have and the monitor works great

Be careful, there is a button on the side of the monitor, not sure what it does, but it messes up the monitor, if the place you mount the monitor touches the button.

Obviously I now know the first one had a working camera and just a defective monitor but since lights don't work on either one it really doesn't matter

Wired monitor and camera to run off cigarette lighter whenever I plug into lighter socket...works great!

Overall is a great well manufactured camera and monitor but we thought it was WIRELESS but is not
