Pyle Backup Rear View Car Camera Monitor Screen System Kit - Parking & Reverse Safety Distance Scale Lines, Waterproof, Night Vision, IR LED Lights, 3.5" LCD Video Color Display for Vehicles - PLCM36

    • The electrical wires are very fine and hard to handle.
    • I tied the black wire to ground and red power wire into the maker
    • I powered the screen by tapping a convenient nearby wire on a circuit that only is hot when the ignition is on.
    • This wire lead without the RCA Jack is to be hard wired to vehicle
    • In this case with use of a volt meter it was determined the hot wire was the white wire
    • The biggest problem is getting the wiring to the front of the vehicle
    • Shield the wires near the main vehicle harness at the driver door threshold and up past the fuse box by wrapping them with Romex household wire exterior sheath insulation to prevent engine ignition interference at the monitor, and do not tap your hot wire for the montior into the fuse box
    • Instead of hard wiring the camera to the reverse lights, I powered the camera with a 12V plug (with an on/off switch)
    • (Red wire to hot Black / Black wire to Green for Ground
    • Hooked this up in 2010 Dodge Caravan. works great!!! wired it to ignition hot and put it on a switch so i could use it to watch hitch and help with hook ups as well as full time back up camera
    • 1) drill out a hole behind the license plate for the camera cord to go (there was an existing hole, but I needed a drill and dremel to make it bigger).2) remove a lot of the paneling inside the trunk (pretty easy if you buy one of those tools to pop off the plastic rivets that holds the molding in place) you can get this tool at any car parts place for about $83) find the wire going to the reverse light (black with pink stripe in my car's case) and a ground wire
    • The wiring is not long enough for a full size SUV
    • , nothing.....checked all wires and connections all good, has power
    • The wiring is very thin, instructions vague.
    • I went to work with my multimeter, starting at the car's power source, trying to determine where the short was in the circuit; repairing melted wires as I went
    • There's barely enough wire depending on how you run it.
    • I stalled mine on a '04 GMC Crew cab pickup and had just enough wire to get from the back of truck to the dashboard fuse panel.
    • Into this I spliced the PYLE red (hot) wire
    • I bought this particular model because the video head unit is hard wired to the camera
    • In short, the installation was difficult enough without having to contend with the extremely poor quality diameter PYLE wires that had to be spliced plus the concern about heat resistance build up
    • This is a hardwired unit and I installed in a 2006 silverado ext cab, was just enough wire to run from camera to monitor but had to mount to the far left side of the dash, was not real happy with
    • Figured this one wouldn't, being hard wired
    • Camera goes to ground and either backup lights hot wire or the backup wire if you have a trailer connection.
    • It must be noted that no useful wiring instructions whatsoever come with the unit
    • Only works sometimes and difficult to keep the wiring all corrosion free thus probably helps the not working.
    • I have done many hard wired installations of car electronics in many different cars, although this was my first backup camera installation
    • Camera hot wire was spliced into the hot wire to backup light
    • Small solid wires instead of multi-strand would be easier to work with.
    • (Pyle Red Wire is 'hot')
    • Smoke rapidly filled the interior of the car and the plastic insulation off of the lead wires to the screen began to liquefy like candle wax
    • Monitor goes to ground and hot wire.
    • I recommend the hard wired unit over the wireless, you will always get a better display
    • One minor flaw is flimsy wires in the connection to the adaptor
    • Another weak point is the very fine wires to connect to power source
    • Even though hard wired from camera to monitor, all wires were easily placed and hidden
    • Only works sometimes and difficult to keep the wiring all corrosion free thus probably helps the not working.
