I had to fold a paper in half, make sure it matches the center notch, close the hole ,place the lever in "Lock" to prevent the paper from moving, and take an Exacto/Fiskars #11 knife and scorch the edge so that I now have a reference.sequel/comment:I really wish it had all the good qualities of the RayMay 6-hole
