If your paper is not A5 size but you are wanting to punch to put in an A5 binder, you will either need to trim your paper if it is even a little larger than A5, or else the punch will not place the holes in the correct spots for the binder.

While this is a minor annoyance when you just want to punch holes and add a sheet to your notebook, the paper guide does not click into the right spot for an A5 sized paper.
