Unless you can place the gate where you would directly step onto the first step, it could cause a trip hazard

The gait opens up but there is a bar on the bottom which is a trip hazard for parents

One, a bar runs the full length of the gate along the floor, which could make stepping through the gate awkward if it's not positioned well, and presents a potential tripping hazard.

Three, I think the the gate would be difficult to install on an interior stairwell unless just the right conditions exist (in terms of where to set the anchors) and, if placed at the top of a stairway, I would be concerned about the tripping hazard presented by the bar along the floor.

I would not use this on stairs since it has a lower metal crossbar at the floor level that can be a trip hazard

It is very tight and the bar that runs across in the middle of the step is almost a tripping hazard.

Our chorkie is small and could go under, plus we thought it presented a greater tripping hazard

its very sturdy as it came with bumpers for the adjusters and your can tighten or loosen the gate to your liking of sturdiness
