The door is easy to open for myself and the older kids ages 6, 7, and 8.All in all I would definitely recommend.

I opted to put this on my sons door rather than the top of the stairs due to the tripping hazard (structural bar across the bottom).

My son will stand up and hold on to it and shake the door (I think he likes the sound) and it doesn't move!

They are especially good for stairs since they have a nice door that you can easily open and close with one hand
