It’s surely not 100% safe for babies because if they bang their head on the floor, that’s going to be a cry of agony; you can fold it in half and get a better thickness to it however you’re cutting the space as well...

Although the thickness makes it adequate for safe playtime, it's not thick and cushioned enough for a child to take a nap on it directly, in my opinion
