Well regalo, if you cannot force the mesh on because it will break the zipper then make it bigger so it actually slides over the thing

My son alerted me that the net meshing around it started to rip and it sure did, so much so it now has an exposed rod.

When you inevitably have to deal with the broken (and poorly made) mesh after the warranty expires you'll have to deal with poor customer service.
