RME Fireface UC Hi-Performance USB 2.0 High Speed Audio Interface, 24 Bit/192 KHz, 36-Channel
Color:Fireface UC
The foreface UC provides revolutionary ultra-low latencies even with multiple channels. It uses two different firmware versions with different transfer methods to remove current restrictions of typical USB Audio interfaces.
Simply the best quality sound for PC audio interfaceBetter than UC that comes with USB 2.0 only, but UCX model has USB 3.0
But really what you pay for is the absolutely perfect uncolored sound quality (the mic preamps are better than most stand alone preamps I have tried) and the rock solid reliability
There are less expensive interfaces that come bundled with plugin packages (TotalMix has a limited number of effects available) but I think the audio quality, build quality and rock solid driver stability make the UCX a better choice
It's a great solution for mobile recording, if you're into that kind of thing (though the BabyFace would be an even better option for two channel mobile recording). In short, this is a great product and I fully recommend it as long as its feature set meets your expectations.
Another solid product from RME!
The RME Fireface UCX is an excellent product, synonym of fidelity, quality, stability and durability

TotalMix is quite flexible, has more features than I am using in my current setup, provides zero latency pass thru monitoring, and could be extremely useful for things like standalone operation
Totalmix is a great, easy to use user interface

There are enough analog outputs that I can direct monitor via an external mixer, enough analog inputs that I can leave all of my components plugged in and ready to go, and flexible enough that I could do all of my monitoring/routing through TotalMix

I had read is that rme has great drivers, I have found this to be true, the built in mic pre's are the best I have ever had, and can be bypassed and used with outboard pre's so now I
It is very well built and has quite a bit of easily accessible I/O for its size

The second is that the multipurpose knob on the front of the unit is somewhat of a pain to use, however I don't see a good alternate solution RME could have implemented

I'm happy to say that with my current PC the UCX is very impressive
I highly recommend the UCX as a high quality compact studio interface

The UCX, though not inexpensive, is a relative bargain

5/5I've had bad experiences with poor performance using USB interfaces in the past
The TotalMix software is immensely powerful (I think I've barely scratched the surface of its potential), and though there is a bit of a learning curve, now that I'm used to it, it's hard using anything else
One is that I find the use of the Matrix view is confusing and time consuming to set up at times
