We were experiencing lags and weird picture issues, likely because it was on the opposite side of the house and down a floor than the router

In my opinion, ROKU has the best interface and user experience.

I use this instead of the terrible Samsung smart TV interface the TV came with.

I bought that TV 2.5 years ago and if never worked well - crappy app interface, no Disney+ app (even a year after launch), PLEX didn't work, and the Sonos speakers sounded muted.

The roku offers access to a variety of free channels and to Hulu, Netflix, etc

Paying options are visible but all my free channels are gone.

The Roku does seem to have lots of additional things you can add such as obscure channels and things, but I mainly use these things

There is no need to subscribe unless you want to as there are many free channels

I have never been kicked off a channel arbitrarily , refused service because "too many" devices at device ONE, no frozen channels ~ need I say more?

However, I can’t give it four or five stars because the quality for streaming live TV is terrible

replaced the batteries twice, but it still doesn’t work.

Worked great until the remote stopped working, replaced the batteries and it still did not work, so I purchased another as it was about 2 weeks past the 60 day guarantee

But worked to perfection, has a long cable to power it and the antenna that have excellent range.

I am amazed that expensive cable companies are still in business, if everybody knew how good Roku is they would be out of business in a month.

Well, you can get a cable to resolve this for free from roku

I could not access my cable channels on it and the roku customer service phone number has a recording that says it has no telephone customer service for this model

my buy motivation was to stop the buffering issues on my generation one streaming stick

No matter how hard I tried, or what I set the Roku to for display (tried auto, 720 and 1080) it would bring up everything fine, menus, channels, etc....until it tried play video, in which case, it would purple screen with an HDCP error and emit a loud tone from the TV requiring reboot.

Been enjoying it for a week up until today, staying get hdcp error, I have 4 Roku stocks only have that problem with this model and my TV is relatively knew and 4k

It only detected 1080p during setup, and It gave me the purple HDCP error when trying to stream anything and everything
