This Roost Stand doesn't do that due to its sleek and minimal design
I get that you pay for design and functionality, but $75 is still a pretty hefty price to pay for a plastic stand, although I concede it is very well designed and manufactured
While it is mostly plastic, it is very sturdy and the design is well thought out

Unlike most stands, it had all the features (e.g. portable, compatible with a wide range of laptops, well-designed, sturdy, height-adjustable, lightweight, and compact ) that I was looking for in a laptop stand
I love the compact design and height adjustment feature on the Roost 2.0.
Since I'm taller, I haven't had any need to use it any lower level than the highest, but that feature seems to work fine too

The Roost costs $75, not inexpensive for a laptop stand by any standard
My macbook is enclosed in a plastic case, top and bottom, and the Roost handles it no problem
Obviously you can only use it with an external keyboard and mouse/trackpad (not included), so the portability of the laptop is somewhat compromised, but the Roost is the slimmest and least intrusive of your expanded workstation.
I have both the Roost stand and the knock-off Nexstand and prefer using the Roost stand every single time.
I love my Roost, really convenient stand that I can fold up and revel with.

Compared to the NextStand (cheaper knockoff) it is much more compact, which is what I wanted when transporting back and forth from the office
Additionally, the Roost stand adjusts to grip your laptop with springs, while the Nextstand has little shims you insert and possibly lose on a night out in Bali
While the Nextstand is significantly cheaper, the Roost packs down into a noticeably smaller size, which is helpful when your "one bag travel" backpack gets filled with a tea making kit you carry around with you for some unfathomable reason
The Roost's joints have tighter tolerances and the legs don't feel nearly as shaky as the Nextstand even though the Roost legs are more slender.
