This unit does a good job of converting my 6mm and VHS tapes to digital.
I have a bunch of laser disks that I am converting it does a good job
I was able to write the captured videos to DVD.I was also to capture more VCR tapes using Powerdirector, and it did a good job
The Roxio software does a poor job of transferring video to the computer.
Video conversion is seriously high-power computer use; because the job is so hard, any software bug is likely to be exposed; only more recent computers are up to it anyway; and then only if they're performing well
Wasted several of our dual layer dvd+r's when it froze after writing a few percent to the dvd.
This works very well to copy a video that does not need to be edited
VCR has been working with Win7TV card before now, so neither the VCR nor computer is suspected as the problem.
I was hesitant about buying this product, but it has worked out well.
I bought the product a few weeks ago and still have problems with the screen size but unfortunately to solve the problem I would probably have to pay for customer support which is not proper.the software works well on normal screen size.
Wasted several of our dual layer dvd+r's when it froze after writing a few percent to the dvd.
But, someone did change the copy appearing on the Amazon listing to remove some of the erroneous advertising
I wrote to Corel Corp. - parent of Roxio - objecting to this deceptive advertising and pointing out chapter and verse of the errors in its advertising copy
Because of this, I find I prefer to burn DVD’s of compiled videos using another software
It would be nice if it had some more editing features, but works well as advertised.
so I saw some negative reviews but figured I'm techie and could make it work.
I read many of the top reviews on Amazon, I read through many forum threads on Roxio's support website, and decided to attempt to get it to work
I was hesitant to purchase after reading a lot of bad reviews, but for my purposes, it worked great.
Look at the 2012 reviews for the top 2 software and hardware reviews, i now own one of each (yes, expensive but donate my time to other handicapped veterans
I was worried after reading a number of negative reviews.
As for using this product, I couldn't get the S-Video connection to work, but I don't know if that is the fault of Roxio or my VCR
I find the best way to record the bus and home movies is to upload them to you tube, that pull them up on your computer and put a DVD compatible disk in and burn them from you tube.
I resorted to taking the resulting .MPG file into my video editing software, creating a DVD on the hard disk, using DVD shrink to make it fit on a single layer disk, and then burned to the DVD.
I had lost my driver disk and could not get the driver downloaded from Roxio.
I am in process of converting some 25 year plus old home videos into dvds, despite some of the tapes being deterioated it makes a great quality dvd copy of the tape
When i tried to burn the DVD, Roxio would not let me burn the DVD at all
so I'm disappointed with how long it takes to burn a DVD
The software and included adapter work fine for recording from VCR's and camcorders to my W7 computer, but I cannot create a readable DVD.
I have much editing to do before I try to burn a playable DVD.
(and yes, the computers and DVD player work just fine with known-good DVDs.)The printed and on-line “support” consists solely of telling me all the possible things that might be wrong with my PC drives, my DVD player, and my blank DVDs; no help whatsoever in troubleshooting possible problems with the Roxio hardware/software
Also, the software can be used to create and burn DVDs (it can make a DVD menu, and you can combine multiple videos into one DVD) or you can simply record the video input directly to a file and save it to your computer.
As for using this product, I couldn't get the S-Video connection to work, but I don't know if that is the fault of Roxio or my VCR
I have an older Sony Handycam and wanted to transfer my videos to my PC and burn DVDs
Roxio was able to save the VHS movies to my computer, so I purchased another program ($30 more) to burn DVDs
They (Roxio) actually limit your available help to one time/one shot and before you can even contact them you must have a redemption code that they are supposed to email you at time of registration, however, if they don't you are stuck in catch 22 for you need a code to ask for a code.
It was kind of a hit&miss trouble shooting technique for which I had fear I might not recover from
and the instruction booklet has no "trouble shooting guide"
I have wasted several DVD's due to a pause in the old family shot VHS tapes I am copying.
Because of this, I find I prefer to burn DVD’s of compiled videos using another software
All either will not read the DVD, or they give an error message that states that the regional coding is incorrect.
I registered this on line and received a confirmation, but it omitted a code I would need for installation support.
The video VHS C adapter worked exactly as advertised and without problems.
The only way you can get any help is by registering your product, getting a support code emailed to you, emailing the 'support' team, waiting to get a response, following their directions that do not work, replying 8 times to date without a single response, then coming here to warn others to not waste their time and money on this
By the way, a regular single-layer DVD holds about one hour's worth of video (4GB), and a double-layer DVD holds 2 hours (8GB).Third
After a frustrating few hours, I finally got it to work.
Once I capture a full VHS tape (1.5 Hrs) it takes forever - over 2+ hours - to burn to DVD
About five hours after I got the program working, I got an email response from a different rep (from the telephone call) giving me a half dozen things to "try" to get the program working.
Complete disaster, six hours of life I'll never get back
Albeit not all buyers have had this exact trouble, but the number of various troubles listed in reviews, suggest a higher than normal number of inferior units on the shelves.
When I recently tried to use this unit again the DVD player had failed and I purchased ROXIO so I could go directly from VHS C (with an adapter) to my computer where I could backup.
There customer service response was slow and then once I received a new product key and download from the internet the unit itself was bad.
Its helping out, with my tapes thank u
The enclosed key code cdrom was not to the code on the enclosed cd envelope and therefore the unit was worthless
