The reviews nearly scared me off, but the price([...]) was right
A good price, considering I only have a limited number of VHS videos to convert into a digital format.
(Let it be known, for I am proud to say it: I do not use, nor do I recommend iMovie, iDVD, or any software which starts with a lower-case "i" for that matter.)
I had no difficulty using this product, my only complaint would be with the poor quality of the DVD which I suspect is associated more with the original quality of the tape and the Composite video connector that was used as there was no S video connector as preferred.
Awesome setup, don't waste your money buying a separete DVD/ VHS recorder player
I went through the easy setup procedure (more on that below), and tried to record some video
The setup is fast and it's a fairly straight forward process
However, the transfer of VHS to digital was flawless so in the end I'm happy with it.

The transfer of the VHS was easy enough, but the only option was to save as a .mov file, which does not directly burn to a playable DVD
Video quality is acceptable; not quite as good as on the T.V., but not too bad.
The product doesn't work as it did not record the audio from the videos tapes
I was quite worried with all the bad reviews, but so far this product has worked exactly as advertised except for the fact that after copying a DVD, the selection to burn a disk with Toast did not work automatically.
This works really well, but then it stops working at all and you have to reinstall it, or at least unplug it, then plug it in and get it working again
This works great for VHS tapes that are beloved, but that have
This is a great product - works well with mac's features
It does work well for converting VHS tapes to DVDs, but the DVDs can only be played on a computer.

It also doesn't work with iMove HD as advertised.

I will most likely be returning this product since it doesn't work as advertised.

Lose a star.(If you have your USBs vertically stacked, no problem
I'd give it five stars on that point, but two points irk me so much that I took two away:1

i cannot get a whole transfer without losing the audio somewhere along the line
Once burned onto a DVD, the audio and video do not line up
Figured the developer would have enough time to clean up the bugs
I must waste more time and money to buy another VHS to DVD converter
Half the time it will work well for a minute or two then you get a green screen
(The auto-stop feature is not entirely useful, as it is only big round numbers.)- Don't waste time trying to clip, trim, or manage files using this app
Stay away from this product if you don't want to waste your money and time
I spent tons of time figuring out how to convert the files, and then actually converting the files, to burn them to a DVD that can play in a DVD player
Note that the Edit with iMovie and Send to QuickTime Player functions require an additional hour or two to convert the video into compatible file formats
Corel/Roxio were NOT helpful and did not respond to my follow-up issue at all) to convert the unreadable Roxio'd files into something I could manage to import into iMovie
I have dozens of tapes to rip, so to make it less painless and more organized, I want to streamline the various processes.- Set a computer aside for the sole purpose of ripping VHS tape.- This app is not particularly useful beyond merely ripping one big .mov file per cassette
I then use HandBrake to re-rip each .mov into custom length .mp4 files
Source used was home movies on VHC-C. Quality was the same using 3 different devices and multiple cables ( 2 VCR players and original camera used to take videos).I had originally tried a V-Top unit by Fly Kan and while their captured video and sound was excellent the device failed after only about 10 minutes
You try to drag the movie on your hard drive to I movie, and you will see
While the instructions do walk you through (sort of) the procedure for capturing a VHS video on you hard drive
but there isn't and the recording does not save anywhere on your hard drive
Is there not enough space on the disk or hard drive, and if so does it warn you?
