I bought this enclosure only because it came with an in-built cooling fan
The product seems nice and well built , However it is listed as a Sata and IDE case, It will in fact not out of the box work with a SATA or SATA II drive
I found it to be well built but with one problem and one failure
Best of all I have had no i/o issues with the drive.
I won't focus on how well this unit functions or it's physical makeup, etc. as there are so many reviews already, but I will say quickly that it does have a solid build and works perfect via USB 2, and quick enough for my needs

TO 3.5 inch works very good and is built very good as well.
For the new, version 2, can do the same too: powered by 12V directly from PC (applicable only on desktop PC).Additional info on SATA speed problem:Not all SATA hard drives work correctly in eSATA on highest speed (due to interference and long cable).You maybe required to correctly set the jumper on hard drive for proper speed
Item not reliable, I bought 2 and 1 is defective and the other only works some time
So far, the case is working great with my IDE hard drive
fairly sturdy works in a half-assed way as a USB enclosure

This unit is worthless to me as it came with no 4 pin molex power cable to use on my PATA 133 IDE drive
IF the latter were fabricated out of aluminum and longer than the provided thin plastic part, then the assembled unit would be less likely to fall over
Sure, it could have just been a defective unit, but I don't want to take the chance.
The whole unit has a bad chemical smell, which is normal with new electronics, but this one was particularly offensive
The power supply on the replacement unit is an ugly fat unit with a curved back that has no FCC or safety marking on it at all

Having both esata and usb 2.0 support is great for moving it from PC to TV when needed (though I could just map the drive and stream it to tv if I really needed to use it more)
I already own 4 Sabrent USB Hard Drive Enclosures with the same stock number as the one I received from Amazon.
Alas, the USB is limited to 2.0 and the eSATA is limited to 3G (aka SATA II)

Better quality than most - very good price and great value.
I've worked with better quality 3.5 enclosures within the price point - may want to look around for a different brand or gamble and hope you get a good unit.
Because installation was such a pain and the enclosure parts are of mediocre quality, I could only give this product 3 stars
The price wad good and the quality is exceptional in my opinion.
I've had mixed results with the Sabrent brand, I've purchased some of their 2.5 enclosures and had a few of those fail - quality control doesn't appear the be the greatest

best thing i've bought on amazon this year ... works great
I've had some odd issues with the hard drive not being picked up, having to reset the enclosure, things like that
I won't even bother to send this thing back since I've wasted far too much time with it already
The other nice thing is it works with IDE drives and SATA.
I bought one of these enclosures and installed a Seagate SATA ST3500410SV 500G hard drive for use on my MOXI DVR model 3012 (the "black" fronted version), which requires an eSATA external drive.

One shouldn't have to re-engineer the mechanical design for proper air flow to provide efficient heat dissipation and reduce dust accumulation inside the case, or modify a base to keep it from falling off the case when it's picked up, or discover the Phillips screwdriver that's included is the wrong size
It was drawing air from the front opening and blowing out the side
Fan, on both of my enclosures, blows air out from the side
so the filter does nothing to filter incoming cooling air
fantastic value and made well.i do want to complement them too much as they will jack up the price.just remember to keep the unit flat and with the fan

And as a minor cosmetic observation, I do not care to buy new products with crude soldering iron burn marks all over the PC board.
While I had the enclosure apart I noticed that the solder had came loose on each enclosure between a mosfet and the eSATA connector.
There is one huge flaw however, the solder to the esata and power connection is HORRIBLE

After fixing a loose screw which was causing a bad grounding situation, two potentially-bad solder joints, one definitely-bad solder joint, and a badly-crimped IDE power cable the unit got far enough for me to at least start testing it
