A Sailor's Guide To Earth
180g black vinyl with Bonus CD
He is one of the leaders of the modern "Anti-Nashville" sound that has begun to take root in today's country music, which is long overdue
Sound continues to mature, i like the horns on this album
It is country with a lush sound, which shouldn't surprise country music lovers with some sense of history.
It's different, but its a very cool sound, i love this guys music
Started listening to songs closer, Love the lyrics and sound

One of the best records I have heard in a very long time !
Needles to say this is my favorite recording so far this year
Unique country style, good recording.....recommended....
My 2nd favorite Sturgill record.. not that this one is bad
Possibly the best "country" music album of all time, maybe the best record to come out in the past 4 years

I have his first album as well and one thing is clear, he is an artist who has a clear vision for his albums, and they are albums that benefit from listening to in their entirety
Just can't say enough good things about Sturgill Simpson and the beautiful music and vocals
He is the best thing that has happened to music in general in a very long time
I like his earlier albums better, but preference is a beautiful thing

Awesome concept album, flows seamlessly from one song to the next
I have listened to his most recent interview with Joe Rogan and he clearly likes a good concept album as much as I do
Like great concept albums before it, it has a great flow to it, and the whole is much greater than the sum of its parts.
While his 2nd album explored lyrical concepts not seen in country, it still retained an authentic country sound

It's just not a good effort from a superior artist, imo.
I don't fault an artist for experimentation, but this album has alienated me
Sturgill is just the real deal, and this album made him my new favorite artist.

It makes me think that this might have been a better production if he'd done an album's worth of cover songs, the way The Band did on Moondog Matinee
Great production sound, excellent variety of song styles and a great listen from start to finish like a letter to his son.
This is a BEAUTIFUL album with exquisite production reminiscent of albums of the sixties when artists made albums with much thought and care
Great production sound, excellent variety of song styles and a great listen from start to finish like a letter to his son.
, I just hate the production and the way he sings on this one

As a person who absolutely hates the popular country music scene, this album was an absolute joy to find.
Possibly the best "country" music album of all time, maybe the best record to come out in the past 4 years
I am not at all a fan of most modern country, but can see myself listening to this album a lot in the coming months if not years.
I am obsessed with Sturgill, he has the authentic country sound that so many artists are missing nowadays
It Between The Lines" is a traditional country song that breaks out with a high-stepping brass section very reminiscent of 1979 era Ronnie Milsap

Sturgill took the song and made it all his own with an intense delicate power working into a storm of emotion and a wall of sound production
Mr Simpson is one of the finest songwriters working in the genre today
The guitars make your jaw drop with the sick work done by Laur Joamets, the horns are blasting some of the funkiest riffs I've heard in years, and the overall musicianship is stellar
If you like music and sturgil this is a phenomenal work of art
Some of his earlier work sounded like a very good Waylon Jennings knockoff

Sturgill can do no wrong in my mind
Sturgill strikes again!
Congrats Sturgill!I guess this album would upset people that want Sturgill to stay stagnant.
Now this album takes us to a new level of how awesome Sturgill Simpson is!
If you want to know how good Sturgill is live youtube search his performance of "All Around You" on late night with Jimmy Fallon which brought the audience to their feet

This CD is absolutely phenomenal... buy it now :PI don't even like country music, at all.
It isn't a bad CD, it just isn't what he had been doing or the expected evolution of that path
Also, I like getting a physical CD instead of just a digital copy
Very good cd, a mix of of country and rock in a good way
Really enjoying his new CD, just as much as his other 2.

(Live A Little)" is my favorite song from the album for many reasons
Unfortunately, they'll likely be yelling catcalls during Simpson's slower songs (i.e. Sarah). From the get-go, I really like the cover of In Bloom.
Not a bad song on the album and his cover of Nirvana's In Bloom is worth the price of the album
The song that was good kept me a awake better than the rest
The first song on this album, Welcome To Earth, made me cry

This is one of those albums that might leave you scratching your head a little bit, but you will do so with a smile on your face while hitting the replay button.
I fell head over heals in love with Sturgill Simpson's work when he released Metamodern Sounds in Country Music.
