The fonts with DP look crisper and sharper for me.2 - In the monitor settings choose the DP Version 1.1 or 1.2 setting.
I fired it up and use the truetype wizard like I usually do with a new monitor and everything looks absolutely fine font-wise
This smooths out the fonts some for me.(if you have found any other tweaks to improve the fonts or reduce the windows default font size below 100% please comment)These 3 tweaks result in a resolution that I can live with given the amount of productivity that I do daily.
No, fonts don't look that great (fonts look a little better in Ubuntu than Windows, but regardless nowhere near the beauty a high DPI monitor would provide)
You are reading snippets from reviews of Samsung LC49HG90DMNXZA CHG90 Series Curved 49-Inch Gaming Monitor
The colors and resolution of the videos are still great though.
Excellent response, colors, and one of a kind gaming experiences are all big pluses, but when the monitor itself cannot wake from sleep, or simply being turned off and being unable to turn back on again - there's clearly an issue here
It's not, and you can clearly see a brighter section (1/4"), then a darker line, then below, the color that should be uniform
Great gaming monitor, fast response, deep colors, good contrast, extra field of
This is a pricy monitor and for gaming, I say you will be extremely happy as the frame rate is excellent and colors look fantastic.
Took a bit to get unboxed and setup, but it's a very nice product.
The more time you spend in front of your computer screen, the more highly I recommend this product.
Otherwise this is great product and totally worth the price
Then you will have nothing to complain about as most of these reviews are not about the product but the price!Update 9/2/17: product is amazing but did notice sides of the monitor get extremely hot even to touch
Some people may have gotten the lemons, just like most other products having lemons..., but mine is working flawlessly.
so I was a little worry about how good the picture would be
Color range is great, and the HDR -- while not quite as much of a difference as the product pictures on the Amazon page would have you believe -- is pretty good, and helps the picture look great
Realistically you wouldn't lower the settings on a game to get a better picture quality
It will get those brightness levels back and make it look even better than it did prior to enablng HDR.Doing what I mentioned above will get you the brightest, most colorful picture youve ever seen
but hey, the picture is so good I can look at them all day!!
, THIS DOES NOT WORTH SPENDING YOUR VALUABLE TIME OVER PHONE CALLS & EMAILS.CHEERS,JV
Respond time, input lag and color has been great
Samsung's policy is only to replace these if you contact them within 7 days, but this isn't sufficient time to notice
This is an indulgence, but if you spend significant time, behind the screen, you may find that it is worth it.
and it's also not sufficient time to contact their support for RMA since the product isn't even listed properly on their RMA portal since it's a new product
In addition to the defect, what really ruined this monitor is that when monitor is set to use faster response time for clearer motion in games, it locks the brightness setting to a level which burns my retinas
So for gaming you obviously want the fastest response and best "gaming" settings but when you're not gaming you probably want the higher brightness
Pros:-Play games on this is awesome due to the ultra wide FOV.-Fast response 1ms monitor and 144hz.-Great for productivity too.-Very well made, the monitor has a huge stand and the monitor itself is very well made
Great gaming monitor, fast response, deep colors, good contrast, extra field of
Seems i must have just received a bad X299-E Strix board and will have to return that one
If not, I would find yourself a huge 21:9 with a better resolution.
Cons:-Poor resolution, this monitor has 3840x1080 resolution
The 49” monitor is the perfect size but unfortunately the resolution
bad resolution and bad quality control is a no go for me
It’s barely taller than my old 22” monitor, has stupid dimensions that only specific games can fit, and then it’s gonna have the audacity to be low resolution
The first thing I noticed after hooking it up was the poor text quality
Text appears blurry and I fiddled with the settings a lot
and that had ideal text and window sizes which were a little smaller than what's shown in this monitor
Using the DP 1.4 cable allows for the best that your videocard has to offer at 144hz and 3840x1080, with clear, sharp text, no matter how big or small you like it
Also ran into an issue when I had multiple displays running and the monitor wouldn't go full screen (black bars on top and bottom) and apps looked stretched out as well as the text, but this went away after I took out the display cables and put them back in
There is a very slight edge bleed where it is not full brightness all the way to the edge, but it does not bother me a bit.
Firstly, this monitor is every bit as beautiful as you probably expect!
Was worried a bit about the limited height but it really does not matter any when gaming.
n’t support it after I’d been told they do
That is just fine for playing games like World of Warcraft however if you are replacing a duel or triple monitor set up with this you may find the 1080 a bit disappointing if you are accustom to a higher top to bottom resolution
Disappointed that Nvidia G-sync is not supported so hopeful Samsung will make this adjustment going forward.
Samsung support was worthless and the best they could offer is to contact Apple for the drivers (which Apple doesn't provide).Perhaps this looks better for PC users ... or perhaps PC users are used to this 1990's resolution displays ... but for a Mac power user ... stay away.
Updated Review - Product DisplayPort failed working and Samsung support is unwilling to resolve the issue as they have the item miscategorized in their system and they told me to contact Amazon for replacement
Attempting to get it replaced but support is really lacking
