SANUS BF31-B1 31" Speaker Stands for Bookshelf Speakers up to 20 lbs - Black - Set of 2

    • My only recommendation here would be an additional 6" x 6" top plate for slightly larger speakers, to be added to the inventory.
    • The upper plate is smallish, and works as a decent guide for the size of speaker that is appropriate for these stands
    • I only have 2 complaints: the surface the speaker sits on is only 5 inch square, and the "wire management hole" on the top plate barely accepts 16ga wire, but if you do get the wire through it causes your speaker to wobble.
    • The top plate is 5 x 5" , for small speakers only.
    • As-is you wouldn't want to use these around children or in areas where they can be bumped, but if you secure the speaker to the top plate the base is quite large relative to the top and will be quite stable
    • Upon assembly, you'll notice that to put the last screw in the top plate, you'll have to "pinch" the pillars together.
    • The main complaint is that there is a hole in the middle of the 5" x 5" top plate for the speaker wire to thread through, but no way to get to the speaker connections without the speaker riding on top of the wire.
    • I experienced the wood-split issue mentioned by others (wood splits in the two vertical pieces near the base and top plate) in the first two pairs, but came up with a solution to avoid it with the 3rd pair.
    • BUT, unless your speakers have thick pads on the bottom they will likely rest on the wire if you use the hole so I will probably just run the cable on the outside of the top plate
    • The hole in the bottom plate is plenty large enough to run probably any gauge cable, but the hole on the top plate is much smaller
    • I wish the top plate was a little bigger, but it still works.
    • The top plate is very small - Speaker wire shows through the front
    • The mounting plate for the speaker, while stable, is not the best surface to put a speaker on
    • Even though I had read several online reviews that warned against screwing the top and bottom plates too firmly into place, I couldn't believe how little effort it took to split the wood on the uprights.
    • Yes the hole on the top plate is too small to run the speaker wire through, but I just ran it out back and behind the plastic sheathing on the backs of the stands
    • Just use some common sense and don't try to feed it through the middle of the top plate as the speaker obviously has to rest flush on it
    • The plastic wire covers snap into place easily, and there is a large gap at the top which is useful if you will run your cable out the top of the uprights instead of through the hole drilled in the top plate
    • I also bought some double stick pads and put one in each corner of the top plate of the stand then press the speaker into place for some added security.
    • Be careful when assembling because do to the nature of MDF you can split the piece where you screw the top or bottom plates to the vertical stands pieces.
    • Use toothpicks in the main pillars to align them with the holes in the base and in the top plates.
    • Also, I use ONKYO 5100 speakers (very large) and unless you screw them into the top plates, you need to use double sided tape or else they could fall
    • The upper plate is smallish, and works as a decent guide for the size of speaker that is appropriate for these stands
    • Next, the hole in the top plate for speaker wire is too small for 14 gauge speaker wire, and in the middle of the plate, meaning you will have to put your speaker on top of it .
    • I used velcro to attach to the top plate, easily removable and solid attachment
    • First off, the top plates that holds the speakers are too small
    • Not so great: the top plate is very small
    • When I recieved the stands one of the screw holes supporting the top plate was stripped and the corresponding wood support where the screw screwed into it was split.
    • True, but consider that Sanus has provided you with 4 rubber, triangular-shaped 'feet' to affix to the 4 corners of the top plate to effectively lift the speaker off that 'shelf', giving the wire safe passage to the rear of the speaker where connection can happen effortlessly.
    • = 31"31" tall with 5"x5" top plate for small bookshelf speakers
    • Insert the tooth picks in the pre drilled holes of the vertical supports, in order to line them up with the holes in the base plate and top plate
    • The top plate is small (5" X 5"), but I don't see any problems with stability
    • I ran the wire through the back where you snap in the plastic covers and did not bother with the drilled holes in the top or bottom plates
    • I'm going to make a small add-on top plate, which will be easy enough to accomplish, given the fasteners included with the hardware package.
    • Only two complaints here: As other reviewers mentioned, there is a hole in the top plate for the speaker wire to fit through
    • I was somewhat worried that the rubber pads for the top plate wouldn't adhere well to it due to this texture, but they seem stick on nicely
    • Not so great: the top plate is very small
    • If your speakers are going to be resting on the plate, this wont work as they will be resting on their own wire
    • These stands live in my dark media room so looks don't bother me as long as it's matte black, and these work perfect for my purpose
