Sauder is a very good producer of reasonably priced well made kits

Easy to assemble, very sturdy (has now held up in nursery for 2 years) and perfect size.

It's also literally the perfect size for the small sliver of space I had available, but obviously this will vary from person to person

The bookshelves themselves are great but the packaging was terrible.

Best packaging on a Sauder product I have seen in over 20 years of assembling these temporary bookcases

I ordered 3 of these, and each arrived extremely well packaged.

One book shelf was packaged great with very heavy cardboard at all the corners and plenty of foam inside.

This is a concern since my child would be getting items off the shelves and then the shelves would come out and fall on her toes

Great because I could adjust the top shelf up to hold her sandals while adjusting the bottom shelf high enough to hold her boots

The shelf would probably die on its own, but in this packaging, I think you could chuck it off the fifth floor and have it survive

If you are looking for a cheap basic bookshelf, this is it

The back of the dresser is as flimsy as a piece of paper

There is a piece of packing tape across one end of it that ripped off the paper finish when I tried to remove it

Most pieces I have bought on Amazon are very nice and easy to wipe off

If you plan to use this in a room where you can see it from your couch or chair, you'll see the unfinished piece

If I had one complaint it's that the underside of the top piece isn't white, it's bare particle board

The backing is just made of thick paper it is a cheap product

This product was purchased in June of 2017 and has fallen apart in October of 2017

So long as you don't mind the slight wobble or the fact that it's next to impossible to disassemble/reassemble, it's a good product

This had to be the hardest thing I’ve ever put together

I'm able to put heavy things on the top without it wobbling at all

I had to drill my own holes for both sides (good thing I already own a power drill)

This thing is SUPER flimsy so don't expect it to hold together

The back board was folded in order to be shipped, and it broke along the folding lines while I attempted to flatten it

The angles do not fit perfectly though, and the first 3 boards are difficult to put together if you are alone.

One board did come a bit dented and another board was a little cracked at the bottom

the back board is really cheap, it's thin cardboard folded in three, so you will see the crease.

Did notice that the latest short bookcases are less well made (and not as costly) - substituting stickers for screw plugs, not evenly drilled, unevenly cut cardboard backing, less strong particle board and thinner veneer, BUT they still adequately serve their purpose, especially since you can't get showcase quality at discount prices
