The magnet holds strong enough to hold it through a case, as long as it is soft plastic or rubber

I wish I understood why manufacturers continue to use this horrible hard plastic.

This works better than expected , the adjustable plastic magnet part is firm and sturdy , magnet works just fine , no need to worry about a bump or jiggle that will knock it down , install was simple and common set up as expected , now my girlfriend Wants one too , since I bought mine lol
