I almost feel bad seeing people with Sony or Beats headphones as they stroll down the street or sit in coffee shops because I know I have a better product that probably cost less.
After buying a pair of Shure SRH-840s about 7 months ago, I feel confident to come back and review this rather excellent product
Shure as made an absolutely amazing product here, and I would highly recommend it to anyone wanting to buy quality monitoring headphones.
This is a wonderful product for a student that's considering taking a major course in music.
Shure is a great audio company with a long history of solid products.
Really happy with the SRH840s, good job, Ill definitely be comming back to buy again.
I'm of a breed where I like to feel my music and not just hear it - in which case these headphones do a great job
and I have to say that while these can't quite match the soundscape of a setup like that they do a very good job at delivering high quality audio at a much more affordable price.
For not being noise cancelers, they do a good job of doing just that
On the positive side, they definitely do a great job of sealing out ambient noise, and for catching any background noise that might have made it into my recordings
I was able to hear subtleties of sound, from instrumental music to movie effects, at a reasonable volume
(I'm not a big fan of bass, but I do enjoy dance and trance music
they are a good reference for what the sound signature would be like hearing the music that the mastering engineer heard in the studio
I hesitated a lot and looked around a lot for the earphones that I thought would have the most accurate representation of what the music or any type of sound should sound like
Not the most adventurous music choices, but I'm sure a lot of you readers will be in the same position
The sound is sweet and natural and at this value I believe Shure has created an audio miracle
As a sound engineer, the Shure SRH840 headphones exceeded my expectations.
The Shure SRH840 headphones are closed back, which I like, and are very comfortable
The Shure SRH840s have earned a spot on BoldList's Top 5 Shure Headphones list!Pros:- Tailored frequency response with 40mm neodymium dynamic drivers- Ergonomic, comfortable fit- Adjustable, padded, and moisture-wicking headband for superior comfort over extended periodsCheck out the rest of the list for other great Shure headphones: http://boldlist.net/top-5-Shure-headphones.php
The Shure is the best I have tried for accurately reproducing classical music and opera and are comfortable without any internal noises or sounds.
but I bought them for $153, which was an excellent price for these studio monitor headphones
After doing research for 2 months or so I decided to get this headphones, mostly for gaming (PS3) and listening music on my computer (iMac) and boy where they worth it, I am not going to get to specifics like many of the other reviews, I'm just going to say that I'm a picky person when it comes to electronics or gadgets, and this headphones are built with quality, sound precision, and good price
I did about a month research to get a good quality sound at a good price
So, these headphones seemed a reasonable price for what they offered
Decent comfort (though can be a bit uncomfortable after a few hours) with great sound and a really affordable price.
The sound quality is great and they are very comfortable
IOW, they are pretty comfortable and the build quality is not bad--not as well made as a German Maestro 8.35/300, or even the similar Beyerdynamic headphones, and not as comfortable as the GMP160/400.
I would recommend these, because they are great sound quality
No regrets, and the sound quality is exceptional for the price.
The build quality is lacking, as these are in the $200, proceed range
Cause this time i am very very very Mad…second fucken pair to break after 3 weeks.
I would recommend these for anyone who is looking for a good pair of monitoring headphones, as these sound fantastic
They are really a nice pair of headphones, especially for < $200
I'm not an audiophile, but wanted a really good pair of headphones that I can take on flights and listen to music on various smartphones and iPads, etc
Ummm...these are EASILY the best pair of headphones that I've ever owned
but I suspect most people will find it quite comfortable
Many people complain about the "lack of bass", but theirs a big difference between mudding up the rest of the sound spectrum with bass and being able to handle low end, and these do the later perfectly.
Some searching and you'll find other people have had similar issues with a bad connection
Some people may prefer headphones with more thumping bass, but I tend to avoid that so I can hear the clear highs.
The longer length of the Senn's may bother people like myself who suffer from TMJ syndrome (jaw problem due to clenching), which may also be further induced by its vice like pressure.
They will not send me the small, cheap plastic part that needs replacing
The plastic is pretty solid and feels good, but I am a little concerned about two little cables running from the main body of each ear to the bridge on top
After about a year the cheap plastic extendable headband snapped on me when I tried to put the headphones on.
Why are these expensive headphones always built with such crappy plastic?
They use a very cheap plastic that broke under pressure twice in the first year on both sides
* even in a different office with less ambient noise, Shure's better sound isolation is appreciated.
Listening to some of my favorite albums with these headphones (connected to my PC through an M-Audio fast-track pro USB 2.0), I swear, I can hear subtle layers and nuances that I have never heard before.
It's easy on the head and ears, cuts out all the ambient noise (including the yeowling from a demanding cat).
Oh, I almost forgot that these headphones block out ambient noise very nicely
The sound is great and it kills ambient noise pretty well.
