My Sportster 5 did NOT have a power connect supply, but I have found that the internal fm transmitter on the Starmate 8 to be generally sufficient, although I highly recommend buying an fm transmitter and plugging it into the base auxillary jack.
I bought the DOOSL Universal FM transmitter from Amazon and a FosPower FM jack extension and it works VERY well

Another nice thing about the Starmate 8 is that if you transfer your lifetime premium subscription, this is a Sirius-specific radio and you retain all of the channels and premium channels
I left the FM transmitter on in cases where I run out of battery, but one beautiful thing about this solution is I can use my phone charger and it will keep this running and charge it too.

I liked the Sportster 5 better because of the radio dial and three saved station bands that allow 30 presets instead of just 10, but with the Starmate 8, the Jump button is cool because you can set it to be the previous station or you can set it to go to a specific station, and using the FM button is better than going into the menu to get a new station to transmit the signal.
