I wish the outer storage pocket was long enough to accommodate the cleaning rod, but sadly it is not.
It would get 5 stars if it had a place for the cleaning rod.
The only con for me was that the zipper pocket is not long enough for the cleaning rod.
When you close the hinged case, the lid will close down onto the lower half, and in this process the cleaning rod will fall out of its slot every time!
As other reviewers have commented about that there is no place for the cleaning rod that does not hit or touch the instrument

The pocket is also very helpful for any pencils or cleaning supplies that I need to bring with me to band
Additionally, the front pocket was perfect for her picallo and its case.
Also, the front pocket is perfect to hold pencils, cork grease or her cleaning cloth.

It is nice enough looking, has a good amount of padding inside and is comfortable to carry
If however your looking for a navy blue replacement flute molded blue velvet lined with front pocket, this is perfect

We like the zippered pouch on the front for extra flute items like extra cleaning cloth etc

I also now have a reason to use the cleaner that I made from a string, heavy beads, and a piece of cleaning cloth because the case cannot contain a cleaning rod.

This is a nice lightweight case that offers great protection for my son's flute.
Now she can carry everything all together very easily with no worries that her case will pop open and her flute will fall out like with her old case.
