Reviews around product (5.00 of 5)

  • I am already invested in the Sonos system, so this product is not for everyone and admittedly expensive, but I love it
  • Sure glad i did, you cannot put into words how awesome this product is
  • I feel a product with the sound stage from the playbase and the sound of the playbar would be well worth the cost
  • I especially like that Sonos continuously rolls out software updates that only improve the product as time goes on, which is saying something since it already sounds great to begin with
  • then I'm sure you'll find some fault with it, I don't know anything about sound quality other than what sounds good and this product sounds good.

Reviews around unit (5.00 of 5)

  • I am not an audiophile, and to say that this unit is better than any flat screen tv would be obvious
  • Everything thrown at it sounds great, as a stand alone unit
  • Needed a neighbor friendly single unit system due to downsizing into condo
  • I would highly recommend this unit to anyone looking for great sound with wireless capabilities.
  • It sounds better at low volume, as this unit is trying to reproduce sound with 10 small speakers, and accomplishes it fairly well, so long as you don't turn up the volume

Reviews around design (5.00 of 5)

  • I like the design and how it sits under the TV but not worth it unless you are already a Sonos person.
  • I really am impressed with the simple, elegant design that almost disappears in my living room, but provides such a powerful sound experience with music or Home Theater
  • but I'm going to sell it as I no longer trust the brand or want to deal with their products failing and taking weeks to get help
  • The design is beautiful and blends in nicely with my bedroom
  • Besides, it is so proportioned, it really just looks like it is some kind of nicely designed TV

Reviews around clarity (5.00 of 5)

  • I'm going to give this some more time before making final judgements, but my initial impression is less than what I expected.(updated text above on 4-11-2017 for better clarity)Update 4-07-2017:I'm going to continue to update this review as I experience more with this unit
  • Either way, the clarity from this thing is pretty phenomenal.
  • The clarity of sound is very good, especially vocals and dialogue
  • but I'm going to sell it as I no longer trust the brand or want to deal with their products failing and taking weeks to get help
  • In fact, the clarity is outstanding, with movie tests revealing crystal clear nuances which would be lost with anything else (even besting the Bose!).Look, when MY WIFE says she's impressed, that means something, since most of the time she simply tolerates my fascination with technology without comment (even when prompted for an opinion, I get, "Are you happy

Reviews around base (5.00 of 5)

  • I have an open floor plan and it easily fills 800 square feet.- Significant base response.
  • The dialogue quality for understanding tv shows is better than Bose tv bar/ base
  • Provides wonderful sound for playing music and has a good enough base while watching movies versus TV Soundbars
  • and it's an easy install, as well as being nearly invisible under your TV.
  • The base is sufficient for normal TV (news/sitcoms), but is lacking in depth when playing music or an action packed movie.

Reviews around quality (4.64 of 5)

  • You can change the amount of base and treble with the Sonos app.- Exceptional build quality.
  • The audio quality with TV sound is mediocre - not awful, but not good, either
  • The surround effects from the Play 1's is quite good and the sound quality for music is quite good.
  • Playing music, the sound quality is pretty good, considering there's no subwoofer, but it's not awesome
  • and it's an easy install, as well as being nearly invisible under your TV.

Reviews around bass (4.45 of 5)

  • This thing bumps bass and has a super clean sound.
  • Sound is crisp and clear, with enough bass to handle my bedroom for basic movie and music needs.
  • The bass is pretty decent, highs are crisp and mid is slightly low but you can adjust with eq

Reviews around audio (4.42 of 5)

  • The video passthrough feature has worked flawlessly so far, audio as well
  • Audio on the playbase is beautiful, it is far surperior to my Samsung soundbar and it really does make movies come alive
  • The Playbase is a great device as well, with well separated, and precise audio, with well balanced BASS
  • Audio is incomparable to any TV speakers of course
  • The optical surround sound is acceptable, but HDMI audio is better

Reviews around experience (4.21 of 5)

  • The Bose setup is one of the most painful processes I've experienced this decade.
  • Don't get me wrong, the overall sound is improved but for the combined price, I expected a better audio experience.
  • If you have the space to do surround, get two play 1’s for surround and your experience will be so much better!
  • So I bought two play 1s for surround and it improved the music experience
  • Problems I've never experienced with the speakers

Reviews around feature (4.16 of 5)

  • Suddenly last week the wireless features failed for no reason
  • and it's an easy install, as well as being nearly invisible under your TV.
  • Tried the Zvox 670 (muddy out of control sound) and new Samsung MS750 (decent sound, good features, weak bass)
  • Being able to seamlessly run music through the system is a great feature as well.
  • The night sound is a nice feature to normalize volume and the speech enhancement helps with the dialog as well

Reviews around speaker (3.61 of 5)

  • I shouldn’t have to do that for a speaker this expensive.
  • My "Smart" TV disabled the headphone out connection when I disabled the speakers.
  • It also sounds incredible for music - by far the best speaker I've ever owned
  • Sounds great, and can be tweaked to improve the sound as a TV speaker
  • Despite not having a sub these speakers still sound really nice and have a surprising amount of bass

Reviews around surround (3.37 of 5)

  • FAKE SURROUND - Getting true surround sound to your playbase can be a nightmare
  • If your DVD/blue-ray/other players don't support original Dolby Digital then the best you will ever have is stereo going to the playbase, which it then converts to fake surround, which means no true 5.1 experience
  • You get a balanced, deep, hearty sound without the surround sound effect which I've never liked
  • The fact that it actually delivers fantastic surround sound that is clear and dynamic makes this an even more satisfying purchase.
  • However, if space and budget is not an issue then go for the surround sound like a 5.1
