Video is also excellent and I have started using a lot more
However, the focus capabilities were not upto the Canon standards and despite some significant advantages of Sony (better sensor, better video, IBIS, EVF), I stayed with Canon
4K Video - Sony has far better 4k video quality than Canon
EVF - I am falling in love with EVF - looking at image previews through viewfinder, seeing all the additional information while taking photos, shooting video through viewfinder (although i love it, I confess that I still forget that it is possible to do this in a7r3)
The dual card slot is excellent, because knowing that you're not at risk of losing hours of prep and shooting to a faulty card is a Big Deal! The extended battery life is cool, but not consequential to me, unless I'm shooting video
IBIS technology is another huge advantage of Sony - you can pick super old (and cheap) lenses from ebay and they will be stabilized once you put them on Sony!l
Works great, iso is amazing real fast focus excellent battery life outstanding camera you won't regretted
The new longer battery life is wonderful, I never needed my 2nd battery even after shooting all day
Truthfully, the D750 may not produce images as sharp as those the Sonys are capable of producing in good lighting, but the D750 with a 20mm or a 70-200mm Tamrom Way outperforms any Sony in low light--yes, including the A7RIII (the new one, that is).Anyway, the Sonys produce super sharp images with native lenses and non-native lenses with good adapters, but they tend to perform poorly in low light, relative to Nikons
It fixes almost every issue the a7R II had: speed, viewfinder, speed, card slots, speed, build quality, and speed.
Its slow-mo feature is buttery smooth, and the quality is exceptional
4K Video - Sony has far better 4k video quality than Canon
I did try video mode at top quality with the Lexar Pro 2000X U3 card, and the camera didn't recognize it as a U3 card, so I couldn't use it yet and the card is going back
The quality of EVF is great - i don't miss anything that the traditional OVF from Canon provides.m) Adapted Lenses - With a cheap Sigma MC-11 adapter, I can use all my canon glass on Sony
On the A7riii... you get absolutely perfect focus more often
This is an amazing feature -- even with very narrow depth of field (blurring background), you will get absolutely perfect focus on the eyeball in almost every portrait/person shot.
After shooting Canon DSLRs for over 20 years and investing a lot in Canon lenses, I decided to try the a7r III after reading reviews that said it now had one of the best focus systems available and Sony was making very good lenses.

This is significant because Canon 5D Mark iv has one of the best focusing technologies for fast action.e
But you can shoot 8fps with minimal black out while maintaining a live view.- Silent shooting
Combining the fantastic eye-AF with the silent shooting and the live view -- it is the best event/wedding camera you can buy
It might not be the ideal camera for more serious jobs that require long shooting times or heavy post-work, but for smaller gigs, it’s fantastic
The Sony A7RIII is a much better camera than the A7RII.I'm a semiprofessional photographer who makes most of my money shooting headshots and other forms of portraiture
Put on face detect, silent shooting, 8 fps... shoot bursts from the hip, and you'll get lots of great candids.
, I was getting sharp images at 1/2 of a second.- Dual SD cards.
The slow sensor readout time results in warped images when shooting fast action

I've always needed some degree of stabilization or high shutter speed for sharp images.
Nikon's great autofocus system only works with the viewfinder.
Love both systems, about sony love this 42mp , weight and focus system
It is the best autofocus system I have ever used, better than the D750.For starters
Sony had superior dynamic range and an excellent electronic viewfinder, although the a7R ii also had an under-powered battery, mushy control buttons and truly awful menu system.
When paired with the right lenses, it is a relatively compact system.
The focus peaking between the A7RII and the A7RIII is like apples to oranges
So for those who want a general use camera with the best possible image quality, it is very easy to recommend the A7riii.

I highly recommend the A7RIII and Samy's Camera shipped it to me in mint condition via FedEx in a well-packaged box.
In a nutshell, the A7RIII is hands down well-worth it if you're looking for an all-in-one camera
And I know that Sony has some great features that I really like, that are missing from Nikon.

Its slow-mo feature is buttery smooth, and the quality is exceptional
Another irksome feature is the half-baked S&Q (slow and quick) mode
While Canon has a similar feature (so not a Sony advantage), without this, Sony would be close to in-operable without a six month crash course in menus.c
Any of the Sony lenses with the GM stamp are of the highest quality on the market; they are also their most expensive lenses
While I now have native Sony Lenses you can use other lenses from your collection just remember you will need adapters that may not work as well as the native lenses
That may be the 42 mp sensor but the excellent lenses also contribute.
I shoot a lot with fast lenses and so focus is very important
When paired with the right lenses, it is a relatively compact system.
I had high expectations and it blew away my expectations
This thing has blown away my wildest expectations.

Its slow-mo feature is buttery smooth, and the quality is exceptional
On paper, it beat Canon on everything and had significant new features that Canon didn't even compete on (IBIS, Eye Focus, 4K Full Frame mode, Slow Mo at Full HD, Zebras/Peaking and many more). After having used both Sony a7R3 and Canon 5DM4 for over 2 months, I have decided to sell Canon and keep Sony
I love the “S&Q” option, that lets you capture and playback the footage in slow-mo right in the camera
(Slow-mo)Since getting into video last year, I’ve been having a lot of fun shooting slow-mo clips, especially for b-roll footage
