Time will tell how long it lasts, but good price here on Amazon.
Great price and this Sony is MUCH Better than the Samsung Blu Ray we had.
Was looking for an inexpensive player to connect via HDMI and found this to have all of the basic player functionality I need at a great price
after a few months of use, still cooking with gas - solid performer for a reasonable price - have it hooked via ethernet cable directly to internet and it also serves nicely to stream video, including Amazon Prime.
HDMI cable not supplied but otherwise works as expected.
It's not super fast and responsive, so don't expect it to glide like a high end device, but that's forgivable given it's cost and utility at that cost.
works well and is a compact player which is what I needed -- good value
Just as good as the Samsung on older movies in regular (non Blu-ray) format
I am happy with this, I wanted to place my Roku 3 downstairs, so I bought this for upstairs, plays Blu-Rays as good as you can ask for and has alot of streaming channels including Amazon.
It does, however play Blu-rays, DVDs and Audio CDs, as well as the pictures, videos, and music on your USB flash drive, and has a decent selection of apps (including Netflix, Amazon Instant Video, Hulu Plus, Vudu, Crackle, YouTube, Pandora, Facebook, and more, plus others in the Opera TV Store app), and has the PlayStation Now feature
Quick start up, very dark picture
Picture was as good if not slightly better than the Samsung (The Samsung has 4K/UHD, which our TV does not have).Easy operation especially when used with a Sony TV.Really cheap
In fact, this silent little devil loads and unloads faster than my Sony BDP-S5100 with far better picture and sound quality
Despite the initial problem, I'd say it is a good product for the price!
Typical Sony, once made good products and still trades of it's name.
my opinion this model has been designed and programmed by people who were not interested in building a good product!I strongly suggest to look for any other manufacturer until Sony starts to support their products and customers again.
I do not recommend this product unless you are storing it out of ear and eye shot...very dissappointed.
While this product did not work for me, I may try another product in the future
I have so many "smart" devices that I really don't care and can't review those features.
Additionally, I found it for $40 - what a bonus for such a great device! The unit streams well and loads quickly, in fact it loads quicker than my old Blu-ray player (which was prone to locking up), so I bought two of these; a replacement for the family room and one for the bed room
This is the worst electronic device I have ever owned
CONS- this device is NOT wifi compatible
Even though I immediately was confronted by a required update (which downloaded OK this time), the device worked fine for all of just 2 days.
I'll make yet another trip to UPS to return this unit and when I get the next replacement I will smash it to bits in my garage!
Another hour on the phone with Sony trying all sorts of steps, they finally concede this 3rd unit has a problem and authorized a replacement.

Fortunately Sony offered to ship a replacement and a prepaid return label for the defective unit after a not completely insane amount of troubleshooting over the phone
Now I have to go buy a converted box, and if this unit runs slow and laggy I will be back to dock another star, mark my words.
Chose this model instead of the wireless as decided to hard wire with a cable as more reliable than wireless, even though we have wireless in our home
no smart TV.This unit works just great with our hard wired internet moden
From what I could tell, the homescreen is a nice simple layout and the remote is small and fairly simple enough for my older relatives to use, as it was originally intended for a 70yr+ crowd (non-wired would've been great)
The only “feature” it has that it is a smart player, although it must be hard-wired to your WiFi network
Calling Sony customer service was a tedious process of pulling the plug, trying a different outlet, blaming the Ethernet wire and connection, blaming the HDMI cable, blaming the HDMI connector on my TV, etc
