Sony ICF-C707 Clock Radio with AM/FM Dual Alarm and Large Easy to Read Backlit LCD Display
Set two-, five-, or seven-day alarms with the ICF-C707 clock radio. It's ideal for your busy lifestyle, and perfect for ending your day in style. Built-in nature sounds are included to help lull you to sleep, plus the large, back-lit display is easy-...
The other features are good but Sony missed a few top ones for an alarm clock.
The features are very good and for a small radio the sound is fine.
Many features on this including two alarms, dimmer and off setting for the clock readout, automatic time setting, and a set of sounds to go with the am/fm radio that will either put you to sleep or wake you up
are other great features, but those were my "must haves" when looking for the perfect clock
The worst feature is how all of the buttons aren't very well labeled, meaning when I see the time or alarm settings need to be changed, I have to get the friggin manual out and figure out which button does what.
The low setting is easy on the eyes at night but difficult to see the time during the day.
It could be me, but I have a hard time setting and resetting this clock
(And the darkened setting defeats the purpose of having a clock.)I will unfortunately be returning this clock.

I prefer to leave Alarm A as my setting for work and use B for other days/times when I need a different setting.
As other reviewers have mentioned, the backlight is too bright even on the lowest setting
Despite setting both alarms (A & B), neither has gone off in two days of use
On a nightstand near my head, it might be more readable, but then the backlight would be even more disturbing.
As may other reviewers point out, the backlight is really, really bright.
On the backlight low setting, the faint blue digits on a faint blue backlight is illegible at a distance of 5 or more feet, and the backlight is still a little too bright by which to sleep.
Everyone has already commented on the noxious blue background light.
Also, the back light (even on the low setting) is too bright for me.
BAD that even on the lowest setting the light is MUCH TOO bright.
It has nice functionality and is not difficult to set the alarm, but the back light is a nightmare unless you like sleeping with a bright light in your face
When you dim the light, the numbers are difficult to read unless you are at specific angles.
I would say this product is good for use in a bedroom not around the house like a kitchen , living room or outdoors.
I bought this product for the station pre-sets and they work as they should.
This is the poorest Sony product I have ever purchased.
For now I will boycott SONY products and will enjoy reading about their forthcoming bankruptcy in the press.
The only thing I would say to discredit this product would be the 3 cords it has coming our of it (aux input, radio antenna, thermometer).Overall, this is a great product.
At night the display is WAY too bright, even on the lower setting (it casts shadows across the room).
The display is much too bright even on its lowest setting
The backlit display is too bright in a dark room, yet the display is difficult to read because of the low contrast between the numbers and the background.
#1 problem is the display is either too dark to read digits easily, without staring, or it's way too bright
Display is hard to read unless in bright mode, which the blue background is too bright.
The buttons are hard to located inthe morning - even the off button.
two nits, the reset button is the same size as the other buttons on the top of the radio so hard to pick put in the dark.
To remediate that, I placed very small clear adhesive plastic pads (less than 1/4" wide) onthe buttons I use most - so I can hit the right button by touch only
The only negative comment I have is that the OFF button for the alarm is hard to find among the other buttons.
The buttons are a bit small too, so it's not easy to turn off the alarm, which may or may not be good.
It literally illuminates the entire room once your eyes adjust.
Another problem I have is that even on the lowest setting the time display is too bright and distracting in a dark room.
The blue light on the face is very bright and illuminates the room when dark
I like that the display light can be turned off - I have had 5 other Sony clock radios and even on the dimmest setting, I still have to cover them to get a dark enough room to sleep
The blue light on the face is very bright and illuminates the room when dark
So if you don't mind a somewhat tinny sound, but do want a flexible alarm schedule and a couple of extra bells and whistles, you might want to consider this Sony.

But now using numerous other time-telling devices (another portable clock, my cell phone etc) it seems only to take a couple or few days to lose a minute.
A couple of reviewers have mentioned that they don't like the "off" button placement among the radio and nature-sound buttons.
it turns off the current nature noises and just plays the alarm
I love that it has 2 alarms (A and B) and you can set them for weekday or weekend using any of the sound options and even pick the volume (levels 1-30) for the alarm level to sound off
When you press snooze, the alarm turns off but the original nature noises do not start again (which I think is good, otherwise I'd just fall back asleep!)- if you press the snooze bar while the alarm is going off, the front clock light turns on for a few seconds and it shows you how long the snooze is set (default is 10
It has 6 different soothing/white type yet nature noises
Here are a few notes on the functionality that folks could find useful:- if you have the nature noises playing when an alarm goes off (either different nature noises, radio, or buzzer
-Great range for radio signals on a sub $200 tunerCons:-The display on the dimmest setting, without being off completely, is still a bit bright once your eyes adjust to the darkness.-Button layout not exactly convenient or intuitive.-Programming the alarm has a bit of a learning curve.-You can't manually adjust the time(ie. forward 5 minutes or delayed 5 minutes)Bottom
If you enjoy puzzles and want to waste 30 minutes everyday setting the alarm then this is the alarm clock for you.
I've had this thing for 6 months now and it lost 2 minutes.
As of this moment, it has lost 3 minutes in approximately 1 week (I believe it is actually slightly less than 1 week.)It is also kind of a pain to set the alarm as compared to the clock it replaced and the backlight, even when on the lower setting, is very bright.

radio seems very cheap, has low quality tinny sound and poor reception
Unlike the rich Mega Bass on my old Sony Dream Machine clock, this one has a cheap tinny sound, like the speaker on a low-end mobile phone
Tinny sound but nice and small
First off and of most importance, this clock radio has a tinny sound quality (annoying to this audiophile). Then, I found that the black numerals on blue background are not easy to see (in the middle of the night).
The sound on this is positively tinny, and hurts the ears .......not at all likeprevious versions of the Dream Machine
