Sony ICFC218 Dream Machine Clock Radio (Black)

    • I was a little disappointed that it came with a dead backup battery.
    • When i received the product the internal battery for auto time was dead.
    • but the battery that was installed in it just went dead.
    • love the battery back up, this clock is very user friendly and the radio stations come in a lot better!
    • I could have bought the battery and set up the unit manually but that would have defeated the purpose.
    • Or may it has a dead battery
    • the reason behind the dead battery is because this wonderful radio has been discontinued
    • There is also an indicator that shows you if the backup battery has gone dead, which is a super nice touch that I've never had on another alarm
    • The battery backup uses a CR-2032 Li wafer battery, supposedly good for about 250 days of clock backup use.
    • Only one small challenge was the internal battery was dead and had to be changed upon receiving the unit.
    • I don't think it happens often that your power goes out and your backup battery is dead, but it does give some additional sense of security.
    • If you miss the warning that the battery is weak, and lost it, well you set the time manually
    • I can pick up even weak AM radio with ease, FM even better!Hassle free lithium battery -- no worries about it rupturing, lasts years and years - much better than the alkaline counterparts
    • I also wished it uses a commonly available battery such as AA or D instead of a button CR2032
    • Cons: doesn't use battery.
    • Works great, just needed a new back-up battery (probably because the model is so old) but the clock arrived brand-new and even made me realize that my previous clock's display had become rather dim over the years, because this one is nice and bright!
    • The only gripe is that the battery was dead when it arrived.
    • That drained the battery to the point where the clock no longer worked
    • Mine arrived with no battery (or a dead battery) and uses a CR2032 instead of a 9volt like my other clocks
    • however, both clock radios i received came with DEAD batteries.
    • the clock we received had a completely discharged battery so instead of plugging it in and having the correct time show up on the display, our showed 12:00... no big deal... replaced the battery (easy to do) and set the time (also easy to do)
    • I figured out how to set the time, and the battery is still going strong almost 3 years later.
    • I Love it!!!!Battery back up is a real plus!
    • After a few days without power will the battery fail.
    • It's a snap to set and has automatic adjustments fot Daylight Savings Time and Standard Time, as well as a battery back up
    • the batteries in both clocks were dead.
    • We love the battery back-up so when electric goes out the time comes back on to the exact time and the alarm has stayed in place, what a blessing not resetting these clocks.
    • There is a battery indicator and it shows that the battery is good but when I lost power for a few hours today the clock was just flashing 12:00
    • My previous alarm had a battery back-up but when the power would go out, the time was all wrong when power was restored
    • Received this product in a good shape, but back up battery was dead
    • I like this alarm clock but the battery back-up doesn't seem to work
    • battery was dead didn't set itself setting the functions was confusing
    • Takes odd button batteries for the clock backup; not a common battery you're likely to have on hand or easily be able to buy in anticipation of a storm.
    • Clock arrived with a bad battery.
    • Guessing it's because of a lack/dead battery.
    • (I've been late for something important more than once because of that).Instead of using the ancient 9V battery for backup, Sony opted for the super long-lasting CR2032 button battery.
    • The backup battery does the trick
    • I did not give it five stars because it arrived with a bad battery.
    • It has a battery backup that is handy during power outages
    • When I first got it, the battery was just about dead (as indicated by the light on the lower-right corner)
    • First day: alarm does not work; included battery is dead; radio has bad reception
    • When I received this item, back up battery was dead.
    • Poor reception, hard to select the station with the dial selector, some strange battery.
    • It has battery back up, two alarms, and it is easy to use.
    • Dead backup battery.
    • That might be true if the backup battery, which is included, is working so it can hold the factory setup.
    • The front face is clean and spiffy looking, the shape elegant but simple -- it fit the décor of the crappy motel off the interstate you stopped at, desperate with exhaustion, as well as it did the five-star room you treated yourself to for a weekend getaway
    • Works as it is advertised.
    • Very confusing as to how to set everything on this clock from the clock itself to the alarm.
    • Everything worked as it should, although some of the FM stations with weaker signals don't come as clean and strong as I'd like
    • the DST light won`t stay on" (written in December), "No way to change from FM to AM" (switch right on the side), "runs 17 min fast since I`ve owned
