I'm using it with the minimalist Spigen Thin Fit/Exact Fit case for iPhone 6/6S which has a recess for the rectangular plate (I highly recommend this case for people who want a thin/minimalist iPhone 6/6S case).

I just slip the rectangular metal plate behind my iphone 6s in a cheap silicone case and it will stick to the car mount like glue.
