If it were not for the quality of the rack at a VERY fair price I would have knocked off two stars just because of the instructions

The price is very reasonable and it's well-made with no sharp edges.

Startech has a good rack, for a reasonable price, but that doesn't matter to me one bit if they can't package their product correctly..

I was decommissioning two racks at a colo and needed a sturdy full sized rack.

Word of warning - this does not come with the correct size wrench to assemble the unit

I would have hated putting this together with a basic wrench even if I had the correct size wrench

Once you figure that out though the product is a great value

The depth is adjustable to suit many type of rack mount kit

Also the shortest depth doesn't look too bad for small office/home use

so I doubled my 12U StarTech and picked up the 25U Adjustable Depth rack.

I love the adjustable depth, because I have 32-inch deep

Extremely pleased with this purchase, it is the 42u Adjustable Depth Rack.

It has a nice finish that's well protected during shipping with all parts packaged in individual bubble-wrap sleeves.

The fit & finish are actually pretty nice, and it seems quite strong

Sturdy, nice powder coated finish, easy to assemble, low profile, mobile

posts bending because someone tripped and fell into a loaded rack, metal fatigue/bending at the holes and mounting squares, the black finish easily flaking off, etc... this is the rack you'll want to spend just a bit more on to vastly minimize the chance of experiencing any of those problems

It's well-built, has a nice finish, and has a robust design

But since there are no sides on this rack, you cannot lock your servers inside or secure them from people accessing the ports or power buttons

I chose the adjustable depth rack to ensure my servers would fit and not hang out the back

Honestly the grounding wire kit isn't really needed, but its nice to have if you need to ground your servers or equipment

This is an amazing little rack; perfect for people who don't want a wall-mounted solution & want to possibly upgrade to something that supports full-depth servers

The depth is adjustable, so it can be made to fit in your lab easily, and can take shallow switches or extra-deep servers

The casters don't like to

Very sturdy, casters are solid and the adjustable depth rails are a great feature

The included hardware is comprehensive (wheels as well as casters, cage nuts and bolts, cable guides)

On top of that the casters are very stiff and don't move freely like my TrippLite 25U adjustable rack's casters do

Also, installing the casters is very difficult because one of the four screws in pretty inaccessible and if you aren't careful you might drop the screw into the hollow frame of the rack

open concept helps with ventilation and keeping the system cool, well designed peice of equipment.

Due to poor packaging design, at some point during transit the bottom of the box had fallen off

but it was disappointing to see such a horrible box design for an otherwise fantastic product

Received first unit, UPS damaged the box so bad that 95% of all parts were lost

Got home and tore the box open like a kid on Christmas so excited to assemble it and put my server and router in it

I know 7 year olds that would design sturdier boxes

Even though the outside box had been mangled the internals were all pristine

If this were the first time I could understand but this is the second box shipped exactly like this

Arrived missing one of the top pieces.

I immediately contacted the Startech support and they got the assembly kit and other missing pieces on the way to me that night

My rack arrived missing more than half the pieces, including several of the large and heavy pieces

You only get to use two (rather than four) bolts to secure each piece of the extensible rails.- One of each caster's four bolts clashes with the nuts on the inside of the extensible rails

I saw some complaints about missing pieces and poor packaging

I ordered this rack and it came with a missing crossmember bar and all the hardware was missing (no screws, casters, etc.)I just received the replacement and the packaging is missing all the hardware again

Thumbs up to StarTech for not using cheap hardware that will shear and strip during assembly.

It's hefty, but you want that when you're mounting expensive hardware.

Despite shipping issues this rack and StarTech support both absolutely deliver quality and I'd order another one in a heartbeat even knowing i'll probably have shipping issues again
