In a completely dark room the projected image still looks absolutely beautiful.

I can definitely say you get a better picture from the white one if you are in a completely dark room.

I pared this with my Epson Home Cinema 3500 to make a great movie room in my basement

On the reverse side of that, when the lights are off and the room is completely dark you don't need a very bright projector for the picture to be bright enough or you could even run your lamp at a lower level

Modern projectors are bright enough that you really don't need perfect room conditions to get a fantastic picture out of a white screen and by going white, when the lights are low, the picture is spot on: no visible tint, no visible texture, not hotspots

I use an Epson 8350 in a dark room.

Just a side note: This screen is designed for a Full Dark Room!!! if you have any ambient lighting like a set if sconce lighting or LED's to accent the screen you want to go with the STR-169120-G

It is not quite as bright as my previous screens but now that I have a completly dark room to view my movies in its not as big of a deal

In a "dark theater" room, using LOW LAMP mode, the image, screen colors and brightness is very well balanced with the projector's putting 20ftL on the screen.

It is a great addition for anyone who wants a screen that excels in a room with ambient light or a completely dark room

The picture is bright enough to watch even with all the lights on in our media room which will be great for football season so we don't need to have a completely dark room with people coming in and out

I have a naturally dark room on the shaded side of the house with really dark curtains

Can't say how good the white background will be if you have a lot of ambient light (they have several available background options) but for my application in a dark room its awesome!Good luck, and happy screen building!!!
